Filipino woman in Miri fined RM10,000 for overstaying, ordered deported

MIRI (Nov 20): A Filipino woman was fined RM10,000 in default four months’ in jail after pleading guilty in the Sessions Court here today to overstaying in the state.
Judge Azreena Aziz also ordered Dimacale Lilibeth, 50, to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation once she pays the fine or serves her prison sentence.
Dimacale was charged under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Amendment 2002), punishable under Section 15(4) of the same Act, which carries a fine of not less than RM10,000 or imprisonment not exceeding five years, upon conviction.
According to the facts of the case, she was arrested at a beauty and health centre here at around 9.20pm on Nov 16, 2024 after checks found that her social visit pass had expired.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Jonathan Lim prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented by legal counsel.
