Malaysians told to stay clear of heavily flooded Songkhla

THE Malaysian Consul-General Office in Songkhla, Thailand has issued a travel advisory for Malaysians to refrain from visiting the southern Thai province due to flooding.
The circular urged Malaysians to defer or postpone trips to the province for now due to the nasty weather, where flash flooding was reported in many districts.
"Malaysians who are caught up in the floods should take cognisance of the details, remain alert and follow the public announcements from the local authorities."
This will help them maintain their public safety and security following the emergence of floods there, said the consulate in a statement.
Malaysians who require help in southern Thailand can contact the consulate duty officer extension at +6693 - 6570707.
During the last school holidays, it was reported that up to four million Malaysians visited southern Thailand, namely the touristy city of Haadyai and the provincial capital of Songkhla.
Meanwhile, local authorities in Perlis, Kedah and Penang, have also urged the people to be mindful of possible floods as heavy rain lashes the region including in the east coast states of Kelantan and Terengganu. - The Vibes, November 29, 2024.
