'Sikandar Ka Muqaddar' Movie Cast And Character Guide

Sikandar Ka Muqaddar is the Netflix Original film that was released over the weekend. This Hindi-language film directed by Neeraj Pandey explores the lives of three people who are accused of stealing precious stones worth more than fifty crores from a diamond exhibition. Their lives post the accusation, followed by the investigation and trial, is what the film is about. Sikandar Ka Muqaddar also features a police officer who is hell-bent on proving his instincts right. All of these people make for the lead characters that add drama and tension to the film. 

Ace actor Avinash Tiwari portrays the role of Sikandar Sharma, a computer technician who happened to be at the venue when the robbery was about to take place. To his shock, his proximity to the red solitaire diamonds makes him a prime suspect. This completely throws him off as he keeps saying that he is innocent. Sikandar Sharma, even though he is granted bail, has bad times following that, as he ends up out of a job and home. He is forced to move to Agra and restart his life. Amidst all of this, he happens to fall in love with Kamini Singh, who is also accused of the robbery and is granted bail along with him. The tough times they faced brought them together. It could be deemed as trauma bonding as they faced an ordeal. Ten years later, Sikandar converses with Jaswinder Singh, and the former apologizes for what he put him through. Hearing these words helps Sikandar get closure. But there is a lot to uncover about Jaswinder’s role in Sikandar’s life before we can find out who actually stole the red solitaire diamonds. 

Tamannaah Bhatia is Kamini Singh in the film, who is an employee with a diamond merchant. She is also at the diamond exhibition with her boss, Mangesh Desai. Mangesh and Kamini are also at the refuge area as the police neutralize the robbers. It is Kamini who notices the red solitaire diamonds from their kiosk are missing and there is no CCTV footage of them going missing. Since she is an employee of the diamond merchant, she is considered a suspect, as she is the only person who knew there were precious stones in her vicinity. Kamini is a single mother who has led a tough life. It only gets worse as she is kept in prison until she is proven innocent by the court. Kamini and Sikandar eventually fall in love as they face an ordeal together. Even though they are acquitted, bad times follow them until Sikandar is forced to move to the UAE for better job prospects. Kamini could be the robber as well, but Jaswinder needs to find evidence to see if she and Sikandar were in cahoots from the start.

Popular TV actor Rajeev Mehta portrays the role of Mangesh Desai, Kamini’s boss and an employee with the same diamond merchant in Mumbai. Along with Sikandar and Kamini, he is also accused of stealing the red solitaire diamonds amidst the chaos that ensued when the police were busy halting a separate robbery attempt. Mangesh is accused because of his proximity to the diamonds. Just like Kamini and Sikandar, he is also acquitted, but the ordeal is never-ending. The police put him through hell, and as a result, he loses his job as well. He is older compared to Kamini and Sikandar and has been facing a hard time ever since the accusation and the arrest. Mangesh could very well be the robber, as he comes across as an unusual person who could carry out a crime. 

Prolific actor, Jimmy Shergill, by now has done countless Netflix Originals. In Sikandar Ka Muqaddar, he portrays the role of Jaswinder Singh, the sub-inspector with a 100% track record of solving crimes. He is sent to the scene of the robbery after the thieves are neutralized. The red solitaires being stolen comes as a shock to everyone, including Jaswinder, who is now hell-bent on believing this robbery is just a way to distract the people and the police. The red solitaires are stolen during the chaos, and his instincts tell him Sikandar, Kamini, and Mangesh are the prime suspects. Jaswinder believes his instincts are never wrong, and, trusting them, he throws all three of them in prison under suspicion and with no evidence. Ten years after the robbery, Jaswinder has still not caught the mastermind of red solitaire robbery. He apologizes to Sikandar, but it is too late. Sikandar claims his life was almost ruined thanks to Jaswinder’s pursuit to put him in prison. Jaswinder does not seem like the person who would give up, but this time he did, and that is a troubling fact. 

Ashrut Jain portrays the role of Manish, Sikandar’s best friend in Sikandar Ka Muqaddar. Manish, right from the start, goes out of his way to help Sikandar. He is the only person who is an outstanding emotional support to him apart from his mother and Kamini. Manish is the reason Sikandar gets a job in Agra and is given another chance to move across to the other side of the country to start a life. Sikandar’s life in Agra also suffers because of his history with the police and the legal system; Manish is the man that offers him a job in the UAE. He is the only friend who never asked for anything in return and stayed honest to Sikandar.

Zoya Afroz is Tabassum Khan, Sikandar Sharma’s colleague in the UAE. Sikandar established himself very well in Abu Dhabi, and in his office he ran into Tabassum, who eventually became his good friend. Both seem to have an attraction that Tabassum wants to act on. Sikandar does not act on it because of his commitment to Kamini, but he chooses to remain friends with Tabassum. Tabassum does look like someone that walked into his life out of nowhere, and Sikandar should have been slightly aware before letting her get close to him.

Ridhima Pandit as Priya Sawant only appears in a few scenes across the film. She is a nurse who is Sikandar’s neighbor from a very young age and over the years became thick friends. She is by his side right from the time of his arrest. Priya also seems to be in love with him, and as a result, she is unable to say no to him. Priya Sawant goes out of her way to help him after the bail, but times change as Sikandar moves to Agra. They seemingly lose touch over the years, and Priya seems to have moved on.
