7 Things to do in KL & PJ this weekend: 21-22 December 2024

It’s the weekend before Christmas! In other words, it’s the weekend for eleventh hour shopping, gift wrapping, and reservation-making…but we still won’t let all the frenzy stop us from fitting in some plans in our calendar! 1. SOAK UP THE FESTIVE CHEER AT B CHRISTMAS AND BAKE GALA

When: From now until 22 December 2024 

Where: The Starhill

It’s a double whammy at The Starhill this weekend all in the name of the festive season! Happening at the Piazza and Foyer, the B Christmas pop-up is all you need to get yourself in the gifting spirit. With a packed roster of vendors, you’re sure to bring home some presents worthy of a spot under the Christmas tree such as fragrances, handmade crafts, pet apparel, and everyone’s favourite gift: socks. Meanwhile, Bake Gala is also taking place at the Main Atrium, where you can get a taste of some of the area’s most popular bakers’ pastries.

2. FIND SOME CALM IN THE FESTIVE CHAOS AT FRANCIS LEE’S ‘DAMAI’ EXHIBITION

When: From now until 26 December 2024 | 11am to 8pm

Where: Awegallery, Taman Paramount

Step into a world of tranquility amidst Francis Lee’s paintings that encapsulate the serenity of nature at Awegallery. Already in its final days, this exhibition features 28 pieces, each depicting the solitude of undisturbed landscapes. It also marks the first time the artist stepped into the realm of oils and mixed media. Named after the Malay word for peace, this exhibition is Lee’s invitation for you to experience the same calm that nature and painting have brought him.

3. BRING SOME SELF-CARE TO YOUR CHRISTMAS WITH ‘JOLLY JUNCTION’

When: 20 to 22 December 2024 | 12pm to 10pm

Where: Puck’s Coffee

Local self-care brand Rehn is hosting its own version of a Christmas market at Puck’s Coffee this weekend! Dubbed ‘Jolly Junction’, the event is bringing together a lineup of leading wellness names under one roof for a festive time that will have you feeling good inside and out. Participating brands include But Honestly, Lovio, and Eye Muse. To make things even sweeter, you’ll also get access to event-exclusive deals and perks while there.

4. IGNITE YOUR ARTISTIC FIRE WITH KL ART BOOK FAIR’S TOKYO TDC IN KL EXHIBITION

When: From now until 24 December 2024 | 11am to 7pm

Where: The Godown Arts Centre

Price: RM18

The Tokyo Type Directors Club has landed in KL and you can’t miss out. The leading design organisation in Japan, the Tokyo TDC is hosting a satellite exhibition, featuring 84 works spanning posters, records, logos, packaging, branding kits, and more. As a visitor, you’ll get a first-hand look at the award-winning works of typography and graphic design that have defined Japan’s creative industry. This exhibition is also the first time that these pieces are displayed in the whole of Southeast Asia, making it all the more monumental. 5. GET SOME LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN AT REXMAS

When: 20 to 22 December 2024 | 12pm to 10pm

Where: REXKL

REXKL is hosting its very own REXMAS Christmas market this season, featuring a selected lineup of vendors across a range of categories. Find handcrafted accessories that will make for the perfect stocking stuffers or some new outfits for that New Year’s wardrobe refresh all in one place. Food Fiction’s resident eateries will also make sure you won’t go hungry in between all the shopping.

6. CELERATE 270SQFT’S FOURTH ANNIVERSARY WITH BAD ARTIST COFFEE CO’S TAKEOVER

Where: 270SQFT

Beloved Sea Park café 270SQFT is marking its fourth birthday this week and you can join in on the festivities with Bad Artist Coffee Co’s bar takeover! 7. EXCITE YOUR SENSES AT IMMERSIO, A NEW MEDIA ART EXHIBITION IN GMBB

Annual new media art exhibition Immersio is back and this time, it’s showcasing the work of 20 artists from around Southeast Asia right here in Kuala Lumpur. The works range from projection mapping to AI-driven pieces, all of which push the boundaries of what new media means. Vibrant, immersive, and visually stunning, each showcase combines technology and cultural storytelling to bring visitors into another realm.
