Bomba finds body of man who reportedly fell into Sg Miri

MIRI (Dec 21): The body of the 24-year-old man who fell into Sungai Miri here on Friday was found today.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim identified as Gelbires Gary Anyi Luhat was found about one kilometre from the location he was reported missing at 11.09am.

The search and rescue operation involved 39 personnel, including four BBP Lopeng personnel, 10 police personnel, five Civil Defence Force personnel and 20 members of the public.

The search also involved five boats as the search was expanded to a five-kilometre radius along the river.

The victim’s body was later handed over to the police for further investigation.
