Traffic chaos in Kuching as power outage disrupts Sarawak

KUCHING (Dec 21): The power outage that hit several parts of Sarawak earlier today had caused significant disruption across the state, particularly at traffic light intersections in several parts of Kuching.

With traffic lights out, congestion quickly built up, prompting some members of the public to step in and direct traffic to ensure smooth flow and prevent accidents at key junctions.

Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) in a Facebook post said it is currently investigating the cause of the disruption.

In a post at 4pm, the utility company confirmed that electricity supply had been fully restored across the state, thanking customers for their patience and understanding.

The outage affected areas including parts of Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri, with reports suggesting the power disruption began before the afternoon.
