'Missing You' Series Cast And Character Guide

Missing You is a brand new Netflix crime drama set in the UK. The show is the story of a police detective who is seeking closure to her father’s murder case. She comes across a shocking revelation that sets off a chain of events that ends with her shutting down a nasty criminal ring. There are many characters in the series that help her, and there are others who just follow the rulebook. Will she find the culprit she is looking for? This is what makes the crux of Missing You.

Rosalind Eleazar portrays the role of Detective Kat Donovan, heading the missing persons unit. She comes to know of a local resident being missing and starts working on the case. On the personal front, she has been going through hell, as Kat never got over her fiancé Josh Buchanan unceremoniously leaving her eleven years ago. He simply disappeared, and she never got any goodbyes from him. Her friends have been her pillar of support, yet she hasn’t dated anyone in the past decade. 

Kat is also obsessed with her father, Detective Clint’s murder, and wants to talk to the culprit who confessed to his crime. Kat is desperately looking for closure, and in that pursuit, she comes across a shocking truth from the supposed murderer himself. Adding to that, she finds her ex-fiancé on a dating app and wonders if he has moved on or not.

Ashley Walters portrays the role of Josh Buchanan, Kat Donovan’s ex-fiancé, who is shown only through flashback sequences. Josh and Kat were happy, and they were looking forward to a life spent together. Kat was close to her father, and he had approved of this match as well. His sudden disappearance after Clint’s death caused Kat severe distress. Kat couldn’t ever get over the back-to-back trauma of losing her father and Josh leaving her without any notice. She feels Josh is back since she finds him on a dating app, but there seems to be a distance between them. 

Steve Pemberton is the dangerous con man Titus who is running a scam ring from his ranch. He also happens to be a dog breeder and is very close to his pets. He runs the scam with his team while his main right-hand man, Reynaldo, helps him capture their victims, hold them hostage, and demand money in return for their release. Titus does not think twice before killing the people he has extorted money from since they are a witness to his crimes. Titus felt he was indestructible until he was traced by Kat and her colleagues.

James Nesbitt portrays the role of Calligan, the mob boss who Kat believes killed her father. His name comes up when Kat forces Stagger to let her know why he met the murderer in the prison. Kat goes after Calligan to find the truth from him, and hopes he will answer her questions and provide some closure. Calligan is not easy to catch, and soon the mobster also learns of Kat’s intention of meeting him. 

Richard Armitage is Ellis Stagger, who is Kat’s boss. He also happened to have worked with her father and has been harboring many secrets. When Kat learns of the lies and secrets about her father he concealed, she comes to terms with the fact that her father was corrupt and Staggers happened to be one of his supporters. Staggers initially goes out of his way to stop Kat from finding out who killed her father, since the murderer divulged the truth. In that pursuit he is also forced to suspend her. Ellis Stagger learns he could be in deep trouble if Kat solves the mystery of her father’s death, and that would lead to an ugly showdown. 

Mary Malone portrays the role of the transwoman Aqua, who is good friends with Kat and Josh. She was closest to Josh because he supported her throughout the transition, and they happened to be roommates until he walked out on his ex-fiancée, never to be seen again. Aqua chooses to side with Kat, or so it seems. She reveals she’s met Josh recently, and Kat is livid at her for not letting her know. Aqua has had her struggles living as a transgender person, and she never badmouths Josh. 

Lenny Henry portrays the role of Clint Donovan, Kat’s father, who was killed on duty. Kat assumed her father to be perfect, which is far from true as the show unfolds and she learns of his involvement with a crime ring. Clint Donovan is seen as a supportive father through flashbacks from Kat’s perspective. Halfway into the show, his real face is revealed when Kat learns of her father having cheated on her mother for years, something Staggers and the mob boss Calligan knew. Kat’s idea of him being a perfect father was dwindling, and she is not sure if she is angry at him.
