Google TV will upgrade Nest Doorbell notifications, add quick responses [Gallery]

After adding support for Nest Doorbell notifications in 2024, Google TV is working on an update that will allow users to send responses through the doorbell directly from their TV.

Teased at CES 2025 alongside the reveal of Gemini on Google TV, Nest Doorbell notifications on Google TV are also set to get an upgrade. This includes a new preview UI for these notifications, where a larger view is shown. Currently, a cropped and much smaller preview is shown.

Beyond the new preview, Google TV will also gain the ability to send responses through Nest Doorbell. These include automatically-generated response options, as well as the ability to send a custom response via Google Assistant/Gemini. Those custom replies are not just sending your voice through the doorbell, but rather sending the reply through the same voice as Google’s preset replies.

Google says that this update will be rolling out to Google TV devices starting “later” in 2025, presumably in line with Gemini’s debut on the platform.
