SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — The parents of a four-month-old baby boy who passed away at a daycare centre in Bandar Saujana Putra last week are encouraged to seek counselling services.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the couple could access these services free of charge at the District Social Welfare Office, provided by certified counsellors.
“Yesterday, we visited the family, and the baby’s mother is still emotional and deeply affected by the incident.
“We have informed them that they can utilise the free counselling services provided by the Department of Social Welfare. A counsellor who was present during the visit has also taken their contact details to follow up,” she told SelangorKini.
Previously, Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said they received a report from a doctor who said the baby was unresponsive when brought in by a caregiver from the centre.
It is understood that the baby arrived in a pale state, with bluish lips and feet, showing no breathing or pupil response.
The baby was taken to the Putrajaya Hospital and was pronounced dead at 5:05pm. An investigation paper has been opened under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2011.
Meanwhile, Anfaal said the daycare centre has been closed since Monday (January 6) and will not be allowed to operate until the police investigation is concluded.
“So far, we have been informed that the police have recorded statements from the operator, and teachers, and collected footage from closed-circuit cameras,” she said.
