By Dhiviya
Shoppers at a prominent mall in Johor Bahru were left in shock on Sunday (Jan 19) when the body of a 30-year-old Thai woman was discovered in a restroom cubicle. The incident came to public attention through a Facebook post, which included disturbing images and details.
According to the post, a small puddle of blood and a pair of white shoes stained with blood were seen inside the cubicle. Additionally, a photo of the victim's passport was shared, revealing her Thai nationality. The poster urged anyone who recognized the victim to come forward with information.
Claims made in the post suggested that the woman might have taken her own life, but this has not been confirmed by authorities.
The mall management addressed the tragedy in a Facebook statement the following day, expressing deep sorrow over the incident. They requested the public to avoid speculation and respect the privacy of those involved.
Later, Johor Bahru North District Police Chief Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh confirmed the discovery of the body. "We received information from the public regarding a woman's body found covered in blood in the restroom of a shopping mall," he said in a statement.
Initial investigations found no evidence of criminal activity. The body was sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The case is currently classified as sudden death (SDR). Police have urged anyone with information to contact the Johor Bahru North Police Headquarters at 07-5563122.
