Ah Boy - A lone gunman with no fear of retaliation, Police say

SELANGOR police have confirmed that the criminal known as 'Ah Boy,' who was shot dead in Pulau Ketam two days ago, was acting alone at the time of the crime.

The suspect, who had a history of 15 criminal offenses, was killed in a shootout with police after being pursued for 10 days following a shooting incident at a shopping mall in Setia Alam on February 8.

Selangor police chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, reassured the public that there was no cause for concern regarding potential reprisals from gang members or associates of the suspect.

"The suspect had a criminal lifestyle centered around robberies, burglaries, and thefts to meet his own needs. When money ran out, he would simply commit another crime. He typically operated alone, so there is no need to worry about retaliation," Hussein stated during a press conference.

The suspect, in his 30s, was involved in drug trafficking and had a history of drug abuse, which further contributed to his reckless behavior, including his willingness to open fire without hesitation. Hussein explained that the suspect would consume methamphetamine (syabu) before committing crimes, which made him bold and unpredictable.

Regarding the firearms recovered from the suspect, Hussein revealed that investigations were ongoing to determine how the two pistols—one a SIG Sauer and the other a Retay—were acquired. While the investigation is still in progress, the police believe the weapons were likely purchased locally.

The post-mortem on the suspect's body, completed yesterday evening, confirmed that the cause of death was gunshot wounds. – February 20, 2025
