KUCHING (Feb 21): The highly anticipated EIC Connect Energy Borneo 2025 is set to bring together around 1,000 delegates at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here on Feb 25-26, providing a key platform for industry leaders to explore the future of energy in the region.
Organised by the EIC in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak, this event will serve as a vital platform for energy professionals, government representatives, and business leaders to discuss the latest trends and opportunities in the energy sector, with a strong focus on sustainability and energy transition in Southeast Asia.
Supported by Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) and the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), the event will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said a press release yesterday.
“The conference will centre on three key themes vital to the future of energy in the region: ‘Net Zero as a Catalyst for Economic Prosperity’; ‘Enhancing Energy Security in the Region’; and ‘Regional Interconnectivity and Cooperation’.”
EIC chief executive officer Stuart Broadley stated that the conference is about action.
“By fostering cross-border collaboration, we aim to turn Borneo’s energy vision into reality,” he said.
Meanwhile, EIC regional director (Asia Pacific) Mohd Azman Nasir highlighted that Borneo’s rich resources and progressive policies position it as a leader in Asean’s net-zero journey.
According to Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abg Hipni, Sarawak’s commitment to net-zero by 2050 drives the state government’s support for events that unite regional stakeholders.
“I am very pleased to see the regional turnout of government and industry players attending this conference. This shows our serious commitment in synergising Borneo’s dynamic power within the Asean region,” he said.
EIC Connect Energy Borneo will bring together decision-makers from major energy companies, investors, policymakers, and technology providers to explore cutting-edge innovations and strategies for a low-carbon future.
The event will highlight opportunities in renewable energy, natural gas, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and digitalisation in energy operations.
The event is also HRD Corp Claimable, allowing attendees to access funding for training and professional growth.
The event fosters high-impact networking through more than 150 curated B2B meetings, creating avenues for collaboration.
Attendees will explore cutting-edge innovations from more than 51 exhibitors showcasing advanced energy technologies, as well as 20 focused panel sessions covering critical topics, such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, and Borneo’s role in shaping a sustainable energy future.
Participants will also have the chance to learn from 90 expert speakers from 16 countries, including key figures driving the energy transition across Asean.
Among the distinguished speakers are Dr Hazland; Subsea and Floating Facilities senior vice-president for McDermott, Mahesh Swaminathan; Energy Commission of Sabah chief executive Datuk Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid; Dewan Energi Nasional, Indonesia member Dr Musri Ma’waleda; and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Energy Strategy and Marketing head Dennis Harun Wong.
