Chery prepares 50 cars for Puchong fire victims’ temporary use

SHAH ALAM, April 2 — State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han today said automaker Chery Malaysia will set aside 50 vehicles for victims of yesterday’s Putra Heights fire.

The cars will be available for the affected residents for a month. Requests can be made through this form.

Ng said the cooperation between Chery and the state government is aimed at helping victims who may need vehicles to commute to work and send their children to school, while navigating this difficult time.

“Applications are on a ‘first come first serve’ basis which can be made at my (Kinrara state constituency) office of the office of Kota Kemuning assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan,” he told reporters after visiting the scene of the fire and the victims in Section 1/3 Putra Harmoni in Subang Jaya today.

In thanking Chery Malaysia for its RM500,000 contribution, Ng said he welcomes more automakers to collaborate with the state government to alleviate the burden of the victims.

Meanwhile, Ng said authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

Some 20 agencies have begun probes and security checks at the incident site. Among those involved are the Royal Malaysian Police, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, the Public Works Department, the local authority, and the district office.
