Gabriel Gumis Humen takes over as President of Bumiputera Court of Appeal effective April 1

KUCHING, April 2: Gabriel Gumis Humen has been appointed as the new President of the Bumiputera Court of Appeal, effective April 1, 2025.
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, the appointment was announced by the Chief Registrar of the Sarawak Bumiputera Court, Datu Johnathan Lugoh, during a meeting held at the main meeting room of the Sarawak Bumiputera Court building in Kota Samarahan today.
Ukas reported, based on a media statement, that Gabriel succeeded the late Datu Thomas Akin Jelimin, who passed away in March last year.
Prior to this appointment, Gabriel served as a Resident Magistrate of the Bumiputera Court and has a strong legal background.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Malaya and has extensive experience in handling civil appeal cases as well as applications involving Sarawak’s Bumiputera communities.
Before joining the Sarawak Bumiputera Court, Gabriel also served as a Judicial Commissioner at the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak.
He was formerly the Chairman of the Industrial Court of Malaysia (Sarawak branch) and Chairman of the Social Security Appeal Board. — DayakDaily
