[UPDATE] 1 dead, 3 others rescued after car collides with lorry along Jalan Miri-Bintulu

MIRI (April 3): One person was killed after being pinned under a lorry, while three others were successfully rescued from their vehicles following an accident involving a container lorry and a seven-seater sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Jalan Miri–Bintulu, near Ladang 3, this morning.

According to a statement from the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received a distress call from the public about the incident at approximately 8.23am.

A team of seven Bomba personnel, led by Batu Niah Bomba chief Rary Benjie, was immediately dispatched to the scene, arriving at 8.50am.

Upon arrival, they found that a Perodua Aruz had collided with a container lorry, with the impact causing the lorry to overturn onto its side, blocking the road and pinning one of its passengers underneath it.

The lorry driver, as well as the driver and a passenger of the Perodua Aruz, had already been evacuated from their vehicles by concerned members of the public before the Bomba team arrived.

They were subsequently taken to a nearby clinic for medical attention.

Bomba personnel also successfully extricated the victim’s body from underneath the lorry after it flipped due to the impact of the crash.
