Mazda EZ-6 coming soon to Indonesia: EV SUV's specs revealed, with a potential PHEV variant in tow? - Malaysia might have a chance?
The electrification race heats up as Mazda's EZ-6 electric vehicle, first unveiled in April, is now confirmed to enter the production phase for several markets globally, including a confirmed launch in Indonesia.

According to the Indonesian news outlet, the Indonesian market will soon welcome the BEV and perhaps the PHEV versions of the EZ-6, in addition to the electrification models.

Here are the specification details on both powertrain options.

BEV

According to Mazda China specifications, the EZ-6 BEV comes in three battery options. The first is a 56.1 kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery manufactured by CATL-Changan, powering a 255 hp electric motor with 320 Nm torque and an estimated 480 km range (CLTC/China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle).

Option two features a 68.8 kWh LFP battery from CATL-Changan, combined with the same electric motor that can boast 600km (CLTC) or 478km (WLTP)

The third variant, however, seems unlikely to be made available in Indonesia. This version is sold exclusively in Europe, equipped with an 80 kWh NMC Lithium-ion battery and a 241 hp electric motor. With a range of up to 552 km (WLTP), this iteration is tailored specifically for the European market.

PHEV

the China-based Mazda EZ-6 also comes in a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) or extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant. This version is powered by a 1.5-liter 94 hp engine, offering two battery options: an 18.9 kWh and a 28.4 kWh. Both options deliver the same performance figures of 215 hp and 320 Nm of torque, with estimated electric vehicle (EV) mode ranges of 130 km (CLTC) or 105 km (WLTP) and 200 km (CLTC) or 160 km (WLTP), respectively.

At present, Mazda Indonesia has yet to indicate whether the PHEV/EREV variant will be made available in the country. While Mazda Indonesia has confirmed the upcoming arrival of the EZ-6 model on their shores, they have maintained a discreet silence regarding the precise timeline of the launch and the potential inclusion of the PHEV powertrain.

With this development comes the tantalizing possibility that Malaysians might not be far behind in experiencing the EZ-6's arrival on their own turf. As anticipation mounts, the automotive community eagerly awaits further updates and details of the potential entry of this innovative Mazda model into the local market
