TWO teenage girls died after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car driven by a man suspected to be a drug dealer when they stopped at a traffic light intersection on Jalan Tengku Ismail, Temerloh, last night.
As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist, Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri, 18, from Taman Temerloh Jaya, and the pillion rider, Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul, 18, from Felda Bukit Damar, Lanchang, died at the scene.
Temerloh District Police Chief, Mazlan Hassan said the accident occurred at about 11pm when the two girls involved had gone out to town for a drink.
According to him, initial investigations found that the accident occurred when the motorcycle involved stopped at the Jalan Tengku Ismail intersection because the traffic light was red.
“At that time, a car from the same direction did not stop at the intersection and hit the motorcycle,” he said in a media statement.
Mazlan said the 38-year-old driver of the car, who is from Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, did not suffer any injuries.
When the police searched the man's car, they found several plastic packets containing methamphetamine and heroin.
"The driver of the car was arrested and is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952."
The body of the victims were sent to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital, Temerloh, for a post-mortem. – June 12, 2025
