BMW Malaysia launches the all-new X3 (G45) - est RM349k for sole 20 xDrive M Sport variant
2 days ago
Locally assembled (CKD) in Kulim, Kedah, the X3 20 xDrive M Sport is currently the only variant offered in Malaysia following the global discontinuation of the rear-wheel-drive sDrive models. Priced from RM349,000, this new iteration carries a RM10,500 premium over the previous Final Edition sDrive20i but brings all-wheel drive and mild-hybrid efficiency as standard.
The latest G45 generation X3 is slightly larger than its predecessor, measuring 4,755 mm in length (+34 mm), 1,920 mm in width (+29 mm), and 1,660 mm in height (-25 mm), with a 2,865 mm wheelbase. Enhancements to the front and rear tracks also promise improved stability and ride comfort.
Under the hood lies a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This setup delivers 210 PS and 330 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 215 km/h.
Power is sent through an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Handling is further refined with stiffer rear axle bearings, improved stabiliser mountings, and a quicker steering ratio, although adaptive suspension is not offered for the Malaysian model.
The X3 sports a more angular and athletic exterior design. Key visual upgrades include a taller, elongated hood, Pearl Chrome kidney grilles with BMW Iconic Glow illumination, and adaptive LED headlights with signature L-shaped daytime running lights. At the rear, the number plate has been repositioned lower and paired with slim, horizontally oriented LED taillights for a cleaner aesthetic.
One major styling change is the removal of black cladding on the wheel arches, replaced with body-coloured panels that better highlight the 19-inch Y-spoke M alloy wheels, finished in two-tone 1035 M bicolour.
Inside, the new X3 offers a minimalist yet highly digitalised cabin. A BMW Curved Display combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen, all powered by BMW Operating System 9. The BMW Interaction Bar, a touch-sensitive control strip under the main display, replaces traditional buttons for a futuristic user interface.
Luxury continues with Veganza perforated upholstery in Black or Espresso Brown, sports seats with electric adjustment and memory, a D-shaped M steering wheel, ambient lighting, a 15W wireless charger, and a tri-zone automatic climate control system. Additional comforts include a 360-degree camera system, interior surveillance camera, and 570 litres of boot space, expandable to 1,700 litres with the seats folded.
BMW hasn’t held back on safety either. The X3 comes equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Active Cruise Control with stop-and-go, Lane Change Warning with active steering, Front and Rear Collision Prevention, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with auto braking. There’s also Exit Warning, a Reversing Assistant, and BMW Digital Key, allowing drivers to use their phone or smartwatch as a car key.
Buyers can opt for BMW Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI), which offers a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and 5 years or 100,000 km of service coverage. The X3 20 xDrive M Sport is available in four exterior colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Dune Grey, and the striking Tanzanite Blue.
