Tanjong Batu rep hosts dialogue to tackle Bintulu’s electricity supply woes

BINTULU (June 13): Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming brought together representatives from Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Bintulu Branch, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), and local residents for a dialogue session on Wednesday at his service centre.

The session aimed to foster transparent communication and cooperation in addressing ongoing electricity supply issues in the constituency.

According to Pang, his office had recently received a surge in public complaints regarding electricity-related problems. Further investigation revealed that many property developers in the area were facing similar challenges.

In response, Pang initiated the session to create a platform for open discussion and collaborative problem-solving.

“From what I’ve gathered, all parties involved are carrying out their responsibilities. However, problems tend to arise or escalate due to ineffective communication or misunderstandings, which can lead to dissatisfaction and frustration,” he said.

He added that honest dialogue is key to resolving such issues effectively.

“We must first identify the root causes through transparent discussions and mutual understanding. Only then can we arrive at viable solutions.

“I’m not here to place blame. My role is to listen to everyone’s perspectives. Only by being honest can the issues be resolved. If we don’t talk about the problems, they’ll never be solved,” he stressed.

Pang reiterated his commitment to problem-solving and emphasised the importance of addressing concerns before they escalate or create further complications.

He expressed satisfaction that the dialogue concluded with clarity and mutual agreement among participants.

“I’m encouraged by today’s outcome and optimistic about holding more sessions like this in the future,” he said.

“Such platforms are vital for keeping all stakeholders informed of current developments and policy changes,” he added.

Among those present were SEB Bintulu Regional manager Hung Sing Ye, customer service manager Vicky Ling, customer service engineer Aliza Lugom, Sheda Bintulu chairman Noel Yek, and other Sheda committee members.
