anasonic Malaysia has just made waves in both education and environmental circles with its “Energy For Green Future – School Recycling Campaign 2.0”. The campaign has officially been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for collecting and responsibly recycling over 100,000 used batteries — the most ever in a single event.
The initiative involved more than 30,000 students from 20 primary schools across the Klang Valley, showing how young minds can drive real, positive change when it comes to the environment.
Held in partnership with local schools and organisations, the campaign reflects Panasonic’s corporate vision: “Create Today. Enrich Tomorrow.” Rooted in its Japanese heritage, this mission focuses on improving life for people, communities, and the planet.
The grand finale event was hosted at SJK (C) Yuk Chai in Petaling Jaya, attended by key figures including En. Yusaini Bin Salleh from JPN Selangor, Mr. Keisuke Nishida from Panasonic Malaysia, and others from Panasonic’s regional and global teams.
Students didn’t just collect batteries — they also took part in workshops on battery safety, pollution prevention, and proper e-waste management. The popular Battery Exchange Program allowed them to trade used batteries for new ones, reinforcing the habit of safe disposal. To make things more fun, Panasonic’s energetic mascot Leo also made appearances, bringing eco-friendly messages to life in a kid-friendly way.
The campaign is part of the broader Panasonic Green Impact framework, which aims to cut CO₂ emissions and promote sustainability on a global scale. Through Panasonic Energy — the division behind its battery production — the company is building awareness about safe battery disposal and inspiring long-term behavioural change, starting with the youth.
This initiative is more than just a record-breaker. It’s a step towards a greener, more responsible future — powered by knowledge, action, and the energy of a younger generation.
