PKNS Entrepreneur Carnival targets RM200,000 in sales

SHAH ALAM, July 12 — The PKNS (Selangor State Development Corporation) Entrepreneur Carnival (KUP) is targeting sales transactions of RM200,000 from the three-day fair at the PKNS Complex here.

State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said, the carnival, which provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to improve their skills, knowledge and strengthen the marketability of their products, has achieved a total transaction value of RM65,209 so far.

He said the KUP gathers entrepreneurs from four entrepreneurship programmes run by PKNS — the Tunas Niaga Programme, the Graduate Entrepreneur Programme, the Advanced Graduate Entrepreneur Programme, and the BizClub Exclusive Programme.

“Entrepreneurs who participate in this carnival are not only given the opportunity to do business, but are also required to participate in an expo course, which indirectly provides training in communication, marketing, time management and social skills, especially during expo participation.

“Experience like this is priceless and may not be available anywhere else. I urge all visitors present today to buy local products and support our entrepreneurs,” he said when opening the KUP here today.

Najwan also stated the state government’s commitment to improving policies and initiatives to support entrepreneur development in Selangor.

“The state government believes entrepreneurship can lower unemployment rates, increase the competitiveness of youth, and strengthen the economic structure at the grassroots,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKNS deputy group CEO (corporate) Suhaimi Kasdon said this year’s KUP involved the opening of 120 stalls by entrepreneurs and students from all over Selangor.

“This increase reflects the growing entrepreneurial spirit in the community, especially among youth who dare to introduce their products and services through the platform provided by PKNS,” he said.

KUP, which began yesterday and ends tomorrow, features products and services by entrepreneurs, including handicrafts, food, baby items and catering.
