TYT, wife attend Brunei Sultan’s 79th birthday celebration

KUCHING, July 15: Sarawak governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, attended the Investiture Ceremony of State Honours and Decorations of Brunei Darussalam held in conjunction with the 79th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The royal ceremony took place at 10.30am today at the Istana Nurul Iman in Brunei. The presence of the Sarawak governor and his wife reflects the close relationship and strong friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, particularly Sarawak.

Later on, at 2pm, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah had an audience with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, which lasted around 15 minutes and touched on several matters of mutual interest, particularly the relationship between Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam.

Also in attendance were Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha; Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg; Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife, Dato Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud; and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agency, DBKU, and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

Wan Junaidi and Fauziah extended their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Sultan of Brunei for the royal invitation and gracious hospitality.

They also hoped that the long-standing diplomatic and cordial ties would continue to flourish and bring lasting prosperity and mutual benefit to both nations. — DayakDaily
