While some may find travel in China mundane, one Malaysian woman’s trip was anything but boring—thanks to a driverless taxi ride that left her in awe.

TikTok user @ryanalysaaa recently shared her experience riding a self-driving taxi in Shenzhen, which quickly caught the attention of netizens.

‘Robot taxis with Lexus-level comfort’

In her video, Lysa responded to the sentiment that “traveling to China is boring” by showing off the country’s cutting-edge autonomous taxi system, calling the experience “excellent.”

In the caption, she described her ride as “robot taxis” which had “cheap prices and luxurious vehicles.”

Even the vehicle she rode in was no ordinary car—a driverless Lexus!

In the clip, it showed Lysa boarding the self-driving taxi, which had no driver in sight. Instead, the front passenger seat featured an electronic screen that displayed the route, real-time road conditions, and the surrounding traffic.

According to the video, the entire journey covered 3.1 kilometers and cost only 21 RMB (about RM12.42).

On top of that, there was a discount of 10.1 RMB—making the ride incredibly affordable.

‘Five-star ride!’

In the comment section, netizens were amused by the ride, with one jokingly rating it 5-stars for the ‘driver’ staying silent throughout the journey.

Many were also impressed by China’s mind-blowing technology.

“China is insanely advanced!”

‘So high-tech.’

Another asked if the drive was dizzying, to which Lysa replied that the car only went as fast as about 30km per hour.
