Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has announced an exciting new collaboration with The Sandbox, a leading Web3 metaverse gaming platform, as part of its ongoing VIRTUAL G-SHOCK project. Launching from 3rd September, the initiative will introduce immersive game content, limited-edition non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and custom avatars that bring the G-SHOCK brand’s identity to life in the digital realm.
The VIRTUAL G-SHOCK project, which began in 2023, represents Casio’s commitment to exploring innovative expressions of its iconic shock-resistant watches. Aligned with the company’s purpose — “Through the power to put wonder at hand, bring new levels of joy to lives one by one” — the project leverages Web3 technologies to offer fresh experiences centred on digital creativity and community building.
A Matter Of ImmersionAs part of the collaboration, G-SHOCK City, a bespoke virtual space, will launch within The Sandbox metaverse. Free to access, the space will invite users to explore G-SHOCK’s legacy through an adventure-style game and participate in survival-style races inspired by the brand’s renowned shock-resistance tests. Alongside gameplay, fans can collect and purchase limited-edition NFTs, including avatars and items featuring G-SHOCK design motifs.
These digital collectibles not only celebrate the brand’s history but also provide new avenues for fans to express their identity and passion through Web3-enabled experiences.
“We’re thrilled to have Casio G-SHOCK enter The Sandbox as our first jewellery brand, bringing a bold new expression of fashion and identity into the metaverse,” said Sebastien Borget, Co-Founder of The Sandbox. “Just as people accessorise in real life, players in the metaverse use avatars to showcase their style, passions, and individuality. This collaboration reimagines a beloved brand for the next digital era.”
Casio remains committed to delivering boundary-breaking experiences that deepen engagement with both loyal G-SHOCK enthusiasts and new audiences within the expanding virtual space.
