Dexter: Resurrection Episode 6 Recap & Ending Explained: Is Gemini Dead Or Alive?

In the sixth episode of Dexter: Resurrection, the titular character continues his hunt for the serial killers who had assembled in New York City to attend the secret meetings arranged by the town’s shady entrepreneur and philanthropist, Leon Prater. So far, Dex has targeted 2 victims, that is, Red (the Dark Passenger) and Lowell (the Tattoo Collector), whose bodies he burned in the abandoned incinerator building. At the end of the previous episode, Dex even broke his modus operandi and had a serial killer, Mia Lapierre (the Lady Vengeance), arrested so he could frame her for Ryan Foster’s murder and save his son, Harrison, from getting arrested. With Mia behind bars, Dex starts stalking his next target, Gareth (the Gemini killer), who kills in pairs so his victims don’t leave the world alone. But even though Dex pulls off this job, he meets with a shocking revelation in the end that puts him in a vulnerable spot. With that said, allow me to take a detailed look at everything that went down in Dexter: Resurrection episode 6.

Spoiler Alert

Dex and Harrison Attend a Funeral Together

Blessing Kamara’s mother, Prudence, who was suffering from a terminal illness, tragically passed away at the beginning of the episode, and Dex, being Blessing’s new tenant, was invited to the old lady’s funeral. However, our friendly neighborhood psychopath didn’t exactly know what to wear on such occasions. He thought Red’s infrared hoodie would do. I mean, it was kind of stupid on Dex’s part to even think of wearing that. All of Blessing’s friends knew the kind of hoodie the Dark Passenger wore, and if he had showed up at the funeral wearing the serial killer’s signature hoodie, it would have only raised some serious concerns. Thankfully he called Harrison to bring him an extra black coat. The entire funeral sequence actually helped the father-son duo work on their “estranged” relationship, which, you may say, is the need of the hour. Also, Harrison figured out that he needed to think about his future, as he couldn’t keep working as a bellboy forever. He needed to go to university, but unfortunately, he couldn’t afford the tuition. I am sure he wouldn’t ask his father for money, but Dex would eventually find out that his son needed to go for higher studies so he could build a career. But how would Dex arrange for the money? Well, Prater had been passing along too many thick envelopes to the members of his serial killer club, so you know how Dex is going to fund Harrison’s university fees, assuming he really wants to attend one.

Charlie Silences Mia

At the end of episode 5, Dex had planted Ryan’s watch in Mia’s apartment to mislead the authorities; however, homicide detective Claudette Wallace, whose talents you are already aware of, didn’t find it very convincing that Mia broke her MO and cut her victim in pieces to get rid of his body. It was something she had never done before. This was when Dex’s old pal, Angel Batista, from MMPD, paid a visit to Wallace and her colleague, Melvin Oliva, and told them that he too shared their disbelief and was quite certain that Ryan was killed by Harrison, the son of Miami’s infamous Bay Harbor Butcher. And to confirm his theory, he wanted to show Mia a photo of Dex to see if she’d met the man before. Unfortunately, by the time Wallace, Oliva, and Batista reached the prison, an officer working for Charley had gotten rid of Mia.

Earlier in the episode, the remaining members of Prater’s serial killer club, Al, Red (Dex), and Gareth, shared their concern about Mia’s arrest and how she could snitch on them to save her neck. They requested Prater to take action against her before she opened her mouth, and that was when Prater asked Charley to take care of the mess. Charley approached a prison officer, who turned out to be a gambling addict, and paid him with an envelope to do their dirty work. He orchestrated Mia’s “suicide” before anyone could interrogate her. But what does that mean for the ongoing case? Well, I think the FBI is going to believe that Mia killed herself because she didn’t want to spend the rest of her life behind bars. And in the aftermath of her death, they will likely close down all the cases related to her, including Ryan’s. This means even though Wallace and Batista are certain that Mia didn’t kill Ryan, they will not be able to officially investigate the case further, as it falls under the jurisdiction of the FBI, and they’ll have the final say on it. However, from what we know of Wallace and Batista, they are not going to let the matter go so easily, and Wallace will keep investigating Ryan’s case off the books, just like Batista has been obsessed with the cold murders of the Bay Harbor Butcher.

Harrison Feels the Urge Again

I know the makers of the show have been trying to confuse us by dropping all those hints that Harrison could turn out to be a psychopath (or a sociopath) like his old man. But I personally don’t think that’s the case, and Dex knows that as well. Harrison is just young and hot-headed, and he became a victim of his short temper and ended up committing a mistake for which he felt guilty about. The thing here is remorse. Dex never felt bad about his victims, but Harrison did. He wanted to turn himself in, unlike Dex, who believed in framing someone else to get away with his crimes. In short, the father and the son are poles apart, and what Harrison really needs is some therapy. The question here is, does his dad, the only family he has, really have the word “therapy” in his dictionary?

In episode 6, as the dust around Ryan’s murder case settled down for a bit, Harrison felt an urge to kill another man. Elsa Rivera, Harrison’s colleague from the Empire Hotel, had been complaining about the black mold in her flat because of which her kid, suffering from asthma, had fallen sick, but instead of doing the repairs, the owner of the flat arrives at the apartment to intimidate Elsa to clear the rent. Unfortunately, Elsa wasn’t around, and it was Harrison who encountered the bossy landlord. He humbly requested the man to do the repairs, but he refused and started speaking ill of Elsa, which made Harrison lose his temper. In a fit of rage, he stabbed the owner’s eye with a fork, but thankfully, it only happened in his head. Later, he told his father about the urge to kill the person. However, Dex, who had been spending a lot of time with serial killers these days, knew what the real “urge” felt or looked like. He explained to Harrison that it was nothing but an impulse. And the good thing was, he denied that impulse, which meant he not only had control over his thoughts but also could differentiate between right and wrong. He assured his son that he wasn’t a monster like him and was just a hot-tempered human who lost his way. Well, we are still not sure what Harrison is, but do share your thoughts on that in the comments below.

Dex Kills Gemini, Not Exactly

Well, surprise surprise, Gemini is not a killer, but killers. Yes, there are two of them. Gareth has a twin brother, the one Dex killed. Soon after the emergency meeting at Prater’s, Dex started following Gareth and arrived at a bookshop where Gareth had left a bookmark to arrange a meeting with his twin brother. But Dex, who had plans to kill Gareth, took out the note to ambush his victim later that night. I think the brothers, just like Red, avoid any kind of gadgets or technology for communication because in today’s modern world, that’s the easiest way to get caught, right? Coming back to the scene, as Gareth 1 walked out of the bookshop, Gareth 2 entered and saw Dex holding the note. Honestly, Dex had least expected this twist. Meanwhile, Gareth, who was standing at a distance, found Red’s presence suspicious and decided to follow him to find out what he was up to. Gareth even broke into his house to confront him about the note. Now, in this scene, the twin brother addressed Dex as Red. But you already know no one knows Dex as Red except for the members of the serial killers club, which means either this twin brother had attended a meeting when Dex was around, or the twin brothers had talked about Red before. It’s also possible that Gareth 1 had told Gareth 2 about Dex stalking him and that he was going to confront him for the same. So, what I am trying to say here is, the Gareth who left the note in the bookshop would certainly raise doubt on his brother’s sudden disappearance, and his suspicion might certainly fall on none other than the newest member of the club, Red (Dex).

I think the ending of Dexter: Resurrection episode 6 made it quite clear why Gareth took the name the Gemini killer. This astrological sign is represented by a set of twins, which perfectly fits Gareth’s profile. I guess this was the reason why he told Dex that the name chose him, because they were born that way. Additionally, I don’t think there was any other philosophical or symbolic notion attached to their name or the nature of their killings. They just targeted victims in pairs, so both the brothers could quench their thirst for spilling blood and relinquish their “great yearning.” I know he did tell Dex that he wanted his victims to die together, in an ultimate bond, but that’s total crap. Also, the twin brother said that Prater paid him double, so there’s a possibility that Prater knows the secret of the two brothers, who are obsessed with “number one.”

Prater Takes The Members For A Surprise Ride

In Dexter: Resurrection episode 6’s ending, Charley called Dex to come visit Pier 6 and bring his trophies and tools along. It seems like Prater is taking the remaining members of the club for a surprise ride to an undisclosed location where he’ll ask his guests to demonstrate their skills. For some reason, I think Prater’s the guy who likes watching people getting murdered, and it gives him some kind of euphoria, which undoubtedly explains his fascination with the serial killers and their trophies. It all sounds like the obsession of a very dangerous mind. Or maybe Prater and Charley believe there’s a mole on the inside, and they are taking them out of the city to expose them? Well, both are worrying scenarios for our Dex, whose only task at hand will be to prove that he’s Red and no one else. But before that, he’ll have to deal with Gareth, whose twin brother he had killed the previous night. The question here is: does Gareth know about his brother’s death? I mean, he had left a note for him and might be concerned about him when he didn’t show up. Well, there could be many possibilities here, but I am going to hold my horses and wait for the next episode to clear the mystery.
