Woman killed in three-vehicle collision along Jalan Nyabor–Kabong

KUCHING, Aug 9: A 47-year-old woman was killed in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Nyabor–Kabong near the Nyabor health clinic on Friday (Aug 8).

According to a statement, the accident, which was believed to have occurred at around 3.30pm, involved a Toyota Innova, a Perodua Myvi, and a Honda Wave motorcycle on which the deceased was a pillion rider.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Toyota Innova driver, a 59-year-old man, was on his way home and had stopped at a junction to turn right into his house, allowing the oncoming Perodua Myvi to pass.

However, the motorcycle, which was travelling behind the Toyota Innova, suddenly crashed into the vehicle’s rear right taillight, lost control, and collided head-on with the Myvi.

As a result, both the motorcycle rider and the pillion rider fell onto the road. The motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was taken by ambulance to Sarikei Hospital for treatment, while the pillion rider was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining severe head injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and remains under investigation. — DayakDaily
