Starlink offers RM1,200 service credit, pay nothing for 5 months
15 hours ago
If you’re thinking of subscribing to Starlink in Malaysia, they are currently running a promo where you’ll receive RM1,200 in service credit. With this offer, essentially you can enjoy 5 months of Starlink subscription for free.
Starlink is a satellite-based broadband service where you can get connected practically anywhere making this a practical broadband alternative in areas without mobile and fibre network coverage.
From the recent Starlink ads, the RM1,200 service credit offer is only applicable if you sign up for the Residential Service plan on a 12-month contract. The fine print mentions that if you cancel your Starlink Residential Service or make changes to your plan and address mid-way, you may be charged a RM1,200 change fee.
Starlink’s Residential Plan costs RM220/month which provides unlimited data at a fixed location. So with the RM1,200 service credit, that would cover 5 months of subscription as the credit will be applied to your monthly invoice.
Take note that the Starlink Standard V4 Kit is sold separately for RM1,600. The kit consists of a receiver dish with a built-in kickstand and a Gen 3 WiFi Router that supports WiFi 6, 4×4 MU-MIMO and it has two Ethernet LAN ports.
There’s also a cheaper Residential Lite plan that’s priced at RM129/month that offers unlimited “deprioritised” data in a fixed location. However, the download speed would be lower especially during peak hours.
For those who plan to use the Starlink Kit in multiple locations, you’ll need to get the Roam Plan which costs RM220/month for 50GB of quota or RM425/month for unlimited data. Take note that these plans (Residential Lite, Roam 50GB, Roam Unlimited) are not eligible for the RM1,200 service credit.
Depending on the location and weather conditions, you can expect average download speeds of 100-300Mbps. You can check out our video of the Starlink Standard V4 kit below:
