Netflix’s Planet Single: Greek Adventure Cast And Characters Guide

A spin-off of the hit Polish romantic comedy movie series Planet Single, director duo Sam Akina and Michal Chachinski’s latest venture, Planet Single: Greek Adventure, is mostly a tepid, predictable, and exhausted exploration of love—and the complexities and struggles involving it. In an age where instant gratification is the norm in almost all aspects of life, the narrative navigates through the conflicts between expectations and reality to define how much things have changed in terms of relationship dynamics between people. The main roster of leads reprise their roles from the previous movies, and their chemistry is pretty spot-on. Some of the new faces impress as well.

Spoilers Ahead

Tomek Played by Maciej Stuhr

Polish actor/comedian Maciej Stuhr began his acting journey through stage performances before finding recognition on the silver screen through his performances in the movies Aftermath, Boys Don’t Cry, Decalogue X, the crime drama series Belfer, and Angel of Death. In the movie, Stuhr reprises his role as Tomek from the first two Planet Single movies. Gone are his prime days of acting as a host of popular love-reality shows. Now a has-been TV celebrity, Tomek is having a midlife crisis as he has to acknowledge that he is nothing but a nobody. His relationship with his wife, Ania is on shaky ground as well, given the couple have tried to conceive multiple times in vain. Troubled with his personal problems, Tomek gives in to his old habits of suspicion and doubts upon learning his best friend, Marcel, has fallen in love with a young guy named Miguel in a spur of the moment and has started blindly trusting him within a short period of time. Even though Tomek’s suspicions prove to be true later on, it was merely a reflection of Tomek’s will to assert some control over Marcel’s life, as he is losing it on his own. Tomek becomes obsessively involved in his investigation about Miguel’s truth as an escapist way to distract himself from reality. In doing so, he somewhat neglects the most important thing in his life, the loving relationship he shares with Ania. However, like clockwork, the estrangement between the duo gets resolved thanks to their confession, which stresses the need for an honest effort to mend their relationship.

Bogdan Played by Tomasz Karolak

Polish actor Tomasz Karolak found a strong base for his acting career in theater performances. He has previously starred in the crime drama series Kryminalni, the comedy series 39 i Pol, and in movies like The Big Animal, Drzazgi, etc. In the movie, he reprised the role of Bogdan, whose version of a midlife crisis involves becoming a full-time conspiracy nut and an unhealthy obsession with gimmicky content online. Given how aloof Bogdan is and how neglectful he is to his wife, Ola, it is surprising that their relationship still exists. Perhaps it’s Magdalena’s advice about love and relationships that prompts Bogdan to recognize his mistake for taking his wife for granted, and by the end he tries to make amends by reconnecting with Ola.

Marcel Played By Piotr Glowacki

Renowned Polish actor Piotr Glowacki has gained acclaim thanks to his performances in movies like Gods, 80 Million, and The Girl from the Wardrobe, to name a few. In the movie, he portrays the character of Marcel, Tomek’s long-time producer friend whose sense of urgency to find a stable love life prompts him to pursue a steady relationship with Miguel on a whim. Marcel’s idea of love is old school; he still adheres to the importance of commitment, loyalty, sacrifice, and forgiveness. Although his naivety almost cost him his fortune, as initially, Miguel wanted to take advantage of his trust.

Miguel, played by Nikodem Rozbicki

Polish actor/musician Nikodem Rozbicki has previously acted in Baby Blues, 303 Squadron: A True Story, All My Friends Are Dead, etc. In the movie, he plays the role of Miguel, a conman who exploits gullible socialites in love traps for selfish needs. With the help of his sister, Maria, Miguel has betrayed the trust of many until he ends up falling for Marcel. Even though Marcel forgives him by the end, it doesn’t change the fact that Miguel is a criminal who managed to evade the repercussions of his actions with ease.

Ania Played by Agnieszka Wiedlocha

Polish actor Agnieszka Wiedlocha gained recognition playing Ania in the Planet Single movie series, a role she has taken on again in Planet Single: Greek Island. Ania is overwhelmed by a sense of desperation to become a mother; in the process, she has forgotten about her own life and the bond she used to share with her friend, Ola. It doesn’t help that Tomek remains busy chasing rabbits by spying on Marcel, and for a while Ania’s loneliness becomes quite apparent. However, the movie doesn’t offer as much emphasis on her, and by the end things get settled simply by reconciliation through a confession.

Miscellaneous Characters

Aside from the leads, the supporting cast of Planet Single: Greek Adventure has done a good job with the respective roles they were given. Actor Kamil Kula plays the role of Ania’s ex, a snobbish Aleksander whose perspective about love and relationships is purely transactional and materialistic. Malgorzata Mikolajczak plays the role of Maria, Miguel’s sister and a con artist. Dorota Kolak is great as Aleksander’s mother, Magdalena.
