Police continue investigation into former national leader’s son over drug possession

POLICE have confirmed that investigations are ongoing involving the son of a former national leader, following the discovery of drugs in his vehicle during a routine stop on 23 August.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, said the case is still being probed under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“The investigation is still active,” he stated briefly, when contacted.

News reported had cited that on 24 August the individual in question was detained after a quantity of drugs was found inside his car during an integrated crime prevention operation conducted by the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters.

The operation reportedly took place in the Damansara area along the Sprint Expressway, where officers conducted random checks as part of their efforts to combat urban crime.

It is understood that the arrest occurred without incident, and that the individual was brought in for questioning as part of standard procedures. - August 31, 2025
