Foreigner in critical condition after falling from Kuching airport’s third floor

KUCHING, Sept 19: The calm atmosphere at Kuching International Airport (KIA) turned tense when a foreign man was reported to have fallen from the third floor of the main terminal at about 3pm on Thursday (Sept 18).
The shocking incident was noticed by members of the public, who immediately alerted the police.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said a team from the Sungai Maong Police Station was rushed to the scene to carry out preliminary investigations.
“The victim sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in an ambulance.
“He is currently receiving emergency treatment at the hospital’s Red Zone,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the 47-year-old victim is believed to be married to a Malaysian woman.
“Investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the incident. We urge the public not to speculate as this may affect the investigation and to be sensitive towards the victim’s family,” he said.
Police also called on anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting Sungai Maong police station Chief Insp Awang Ramzi Awang Junaidi at 019-8444123 or the Sungai Maong Police Station at 082-420469. — DayakDaily
