Reported by NST, N. Surendran, who represents the family of 38-year-old Pannir Selvam Pranthaman, said that Singapore was specifically “targeting” Malaysians on death row.
His remarks came after Pannir was hanged in Singapore today (Oct 8) for trafficking 51.84g of heroin into the country in 2014.
Second execution in under two weeksPannir’s hanging on Oct 8 came less than two weeks after the execution of 39-year-old Malaysian K. Datchinamurthy on Sept 25.
Both were convicted of drug trafficking offences in Singapore and sentenced to the mandatory death penalty.
Datchinamurthy was convicted of having in his possession, for the purpose of trafficking, not less than 44.96g of diamorphine (pure heroin).
Meanwhile, 38-year-old Pannir was found guilty of couriering51.84g of heroin into the country in 2014.
