Road closures in city centre for Sarawak Regatta, Kuching Waterfront Festival opening and closing ceremonies

KUCHING (Oct 21) Several roads within the vicinity of Kuching Waterfront will be closed for for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Sarawak Regatta and Kuching Waterfront Festival.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said closures for the opening will be on Oct 24 from 7am to 6pm, while closures for the closing ceremony will be on Nov 2, also from 7am to 6pm.

For the officiation ceremony, the roads affected will be from Jalan Gambier and Lebuh Wayang heading to Jalan Main Bazaar (from 7am-6pm).

Closures will also affect Lebuh Temple to Lebuh Wayang; the stretch from the traffic light junction at St Mary’s heading to Lebuh Wayang; and the Jalan Pearl stretch and traffic light junction heading to Jalan Wawasan (from 12pm to 6pm), he said in a statement.

Alexson said the same roads will also be closed during the closing ceremony on Nov 2.

He advised motorists not to park by the roadside, as well as to plan their journeys ahead and use alternative routes to reduce congestion.
