Their Influenza Awareness Program (2025–2027) aims to make Malaysians smarter (and safer) about the flu.

Why Should You Care?

Because the numbers don’t lie: in 2024, Malaysia recorded over 30,000 influenza cases, including 17 deaths. Most of us shrug off a sore throat or fever as “just a bug,” but for seniors, young kids, pregnant women, or people with chronic illnesses, the flu can be deadly.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says the best way to fight back is simple: get vaccinated every year. The Ministry of Health now even offers free flu shots for seniors aged 60 and above with comorbidities. If they’re doing their part, maybe we should too?
