The year 2025 breezed past pretty quickly and soon we have to remind ourselves that it’s the year 2026 whenever someone asks us for the date.

2025 has not been kind at times but there are moments where things were pretty good. Here’s a compilation of the good things that have happened to remind us that goodness is still out there.

1st: A photographer buys expensive camera equipment and seeks to return them to the original owner

Around October 2025, photographer Cle Chua shared on social media that he bought a camera bag that was filled with expensive photography equipment at an airport auction in Melbourne, Australia. The totalled worth of the items in the bag comes up to RM60,000.

Inside the bag, there were two pens, a notepad with Chinese writing, and Malaysian lottery tickets. Chua said he wanted to return the whole bag and the items inside to its rightful owner.

Chua’s selflessness and honesty inspired many people. He could have kept the equipment for his own use but decided the right thing to do was to help return the cherished items.

2nd: A calm mediator breaks up highway kung fu & silat showdown

In June 2025, the Malaysian road rage incident went up a notch by having muhibbah representation.

A fight broke out in front of a random toll plaza between a Malay man and a Chinese man. The Malay man in a sarung wielded a sai (a fork-like martial arts weapon) while performing dramatic silat moves while the Chinese man raised his fists but moved like a trained martial artist.

The scene was tense between them but looked comedic from afar. As the men danced around each other, the scene introduced an unlikely hero. A man wearing a grey shirt strode up and acted as a peaceful mediator. His appearance made the other two who were ready to throttle each other walk back to their cars without much fuss.

The whole incident was caught on camera and amused many Malaysians. Viewers appreciated the multicultural aspect of the drama and the showcasing of Malaysia’s diverse martial arts heritage.

3rd: Malaysian hospitality means more food

A Malaysian Airlines passenger was fed really well during a three-hour flight from Chiang Mai to Kuala Lumpur in September 2025. The passenger only ordered a meal for the flight: Nasi Bunga Telang with Gulai Ayam.

After finishing his dish, he heard the flight attendant asking other passengers if they wanted more food. Everyone politely declined but he said he was willing to try a little although he might not be able to finish them.

To his surprise, he was served not one but five more dishes and extra snacks, including drinks and extra bread rolls to take home. It turned out that the flight attendant was serving surplus meals from the previous Kuala Lumput-Chiang Mai route.

The passenger admitted he was worried about being labelled a difficult customer but was grateful that the overwhelming Malaysian hospitality left him pretty stuffed to the brim.

4th: Malaysians rally to buy laptop for student within 24 hours

Uncle Kentang, known for helping the underprivileged, sought help online to get a young teacher trainee a laptop to pursue his studies.

The young man’s mother works as a char kuey teow seller and only has RM350 to survive on.

She initially requested for a secondhand laptop from Uncle Kentang. With the public’s kindness, funds were raised and a brand new laptop was given to her son within 24 hours.

5th: Keep smiling, you don’t know the power it holds

A customer at Lotus’s Sitiawan, Perak, sung high praises about a friendly and helpful cashier named Sunithaj Moorthy. The customer shared that they always look for Sunithaj to handle checkouts because she always has a smile and is patient with customers.

Lotus’s Malaysia acknowledged her stellar service with a certificate and gift vouchers in a small ceremony.
