XREAL 1S delivers big display upgrades for $450 ahead of 'Aura' Android XR
3 days ago
Ahead of launching its first Android XR product, “Project Aura,” the new XREAL 1S glasses deliver some impressive new display upgrades, and for a lower price than its predecessor too.
The XREAL 1S is a pair of mixed reality glasses (mostly VR) that succeeds the XREAL One which launched in December of 2024, as well as the XREAL One Pro to an extent, which were released a few months ago.
XREAL 1S support showing a virtual screen which pulls a feed from a connected device such as a laptop, smartphone, or even gaming devices like the Steam Deck. Hardware is what’s impressive, though.
The new glasses support 1200p resolution, up from 1080p, while also boosting brightness to 700 nits. The field-of-view is also now 52-degrees, up from 50-degrees on XREAL One. The aspect ratio for content is also up from 16:9 to 16:10, offering a more immersive experience. Like prior models, there’s support for 3DoF tracking for AR modes that can anchor a display somewhere in real life. There are built-in speakers tuned by Bose and the lenses can be dimmed on demand to let more or less of the surrounding world bleed through. XREAL 1S weighs just 82g.
The upgraded displays and hardware, though, don’t raise the price. Where XREAL One launched for $499, this new model is $449. XREAL 1S is available today through retailers such as Amazonand Best Buy.
XREAL 1S and XREAL One Pro are also picking up support for “Real 3D,” a new conversation feature available in the latest system update.
Meanwhile, the other new product XREAL is launching at CES 2026 is XREAL Neo. This is a specially-made 10,000 mAh power bank for the glasses which has an integrated DisplayPort video hub. This allows the glasses to display content from devices like a Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck with no need for added power or cables – just plug Neo into both the Switch and the glasses, and you’re good to go. It even has support for wireless charging on your smartphone.
Neo is also available today for $99.
The next big announcement from XREAL is expected to be the company’s Android XR glasses which were teased in late 2025. “Project Aura” doesn’t have a set release date, but it’s very likely right around the corner.
