Toyota sold over 100,000 cars once again last year, making it four years in a row now.
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has cemented its dominance in the Malaysian automotive market, making industry history as the first and only non-national brand to achieve over 100,000 vehicle sales for four consecutive years.
Closing 2025 on a high note, the automaker recorded a robust 14,284 units sold in December alone, pushing its total annual sales to 102,417 units. This achievement comes despite a challenging landscape defined by aggressive new market entrants and the rapid acceleration of electrification.
Consistency Amidst CompetitionWhile the Malaysian market sees an influx of new brands and technologies, Toyota’s consistent performance highlights the enduring trust it commands among local buyers.
Datuk Ravindran K, President of UMW Toyota Motor, attributed this success to the brand’s “Best in Town” philosophy and deep understanding of local needs.
“Achieving over 100,000 vehicle sales for four consecutive years is a meaningful milestone for Toyota and a celebration of the trust Malaysians place in us,” said Datuk Ravindran K.
The company’s Multi-Pathway Approach—offering a mix of reliable internal combustion engines (ICE), hybrids, and future-ready technologies—has proven critical in ensuring inclusive mobility for diverse communities across the country.
Introducing “Toyota Extend”: Warranty Up to 8 YearsTo further strengthen ownership confidence, UMWT introduced the Toyota Extend Plan on December 1, 2025. It was the first warranty extension since 2016 when the company moved to a 5-year standard manufacturer warranty.
This new programme allows owners of selected models—including the Vios, Yaris, Corolla, and Corolla Cross—to extend their standard five-year warranty by up to three additional years.
The Road AheadAs UMW Toyota Motor steps into 2026, the focus remains on expanding its network and refining customer service excellence. By balancing innovation with the reliability synonymous with the Toyota badge, the brand is well-positioned to navigate the evolving mobility landscape while maintaining its stronghold in Malaysia.
