No Room for Error: M'sia's Fastest Athletes Take On an Intense Challenge While Setting a Record

When we think of sports, we usually picture athletes competing side by side on the same field. One recent film has taken sports in a completely different direction. This film stars Soh Wai Ching, Malaysia’s World No.1 Towerrunner, and Qabil Irfan, the FIM MiniGP World Champion.

And the challenge they take on isn’t your typical race at all. Some might even call it downright heart-pounding.

The twist? They’re performing in sync from two different locations. The only question is: can he make it in time and what made all this possible? Curious how it all unfolds? Keep reading.

Meet the athletes behind this challenge

Before we dive into the film, let’s get to know the two Malaysian athletes at the heart of this challenge. First up is Soh Wai Ching, Malaysia’s World No.1 Towerrunner — a champion who smashed records and won major titles, including the 2026 Cinda Run Up in China.

Then there’s Qabil Irfan, a rising star in motorcycle racing. He first caught the world’s attention in 2023 when he became the FIM MiniGP World Champion. Just two years later, he raised the bar even higher, making history in 2025 as the first Malaysian to win the overall ESBK Talent Cup title at only 13 years old, with multiple podium finishes across circuits in Europe.

Now that you’ve met the athletes, let’s jump into the film itself. But fair warning, this record-setting challenge will have you on the edge of your seat.

The challenge: a buzzer, a barrier, and zero room for error!

Here’s the setup: For Soh, the mission begins at the base of the iconic The Exchange 106. In front of him: 106 flights of stairs. At the very top: a buzzer. On paper, the goal is simple — reach the top and hit that buzzer. Easy work for a World No.1 Towerrunner, at least that’s what you’d think.

But there’s a twist. While Soh is sprinting up the tower, Qabil is simultaneously speeding through a racetrack miles away. His race depends entirely on Soh, as there is a barrier on the track that starts wide open and gradually closes. Soh must reach the top and hit the buzzer in record time to stop the barrier from closing.

Imagine this: Qabil is racing toward the narrowing barrier at full speed. If Soh hits the buzzer at the right moment, the barrier halts just in time, letting Qabil pass safely. If he doesn’t, well, Qabil said it best:

And that’s exactly why the connection between them has to be instant because every millisecond counts! Wanna see if they make it in time? Watch the full film below to find out!

How 5G makes this challenge possible

What makes this challenge truly remarkable is that Sohand Qabilaren’t side by side; they’re connected digitally. The moment Soh presses the buzzer at the top of the tower, it sends a signal to the racetrack, controlling the barrier for Qabil in real time.

Every millisecond counts, highlighting just how fast and precise their 5G connection is. This split-second coordination across two locations highlights the power of CelcomDigi’s 5G connectivity: Malaysia’s No.1 Widest, Fastest, and Secure Network.

“5G services open new possibilities for how people live, work, and enjoy digital content. This showcase is a simple but powerful way to help Malaysians see what fast responsiveness looks like in action. Our focus is to deliver the best 5G service experience through great value plans, widest range of 5G device choices, and seamless internet access locally and abroad with the best global roaming partners,” said Chan May Ling, Head of Brand and Marketing Services.

The finish line: Anything is possible!

Whether you’re a sports fan or just love a good thrill, this film is a must-see for everyone. Don’t forget to share this with your friends and family so they can experience the thrill of this record-setting challenge too!
