Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros has served as Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) global chief executive since 2018. This will be his third and final mandate, reaching the statutory limit of three terms permitted under SIGA's constitution.
GENEVA: The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has announced that its co-founder and current global chief executive, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, is the sole candidate for the role for the 2026–2030 term.
As nominations closed on March 11, de Medeiros remains the only individual in contention for the position. He formally submitted his candidacy earlier this month through a dossier presented to the SIGA Council, which included his electoral manifesto, “Making Integrity Irreversible”.
The proposal outlines a strategic programme for the next four years, focusing on strengthening institutional capacity and accelerating the implementation of reform agendas. Key priorities include the global expansion of universal integrity standards and the continued rollout of the organisation’s independent rating and verification system.
Under the organisation’s electoral procedures, the SIGA Council will vote on the candidacy on March 16. The result will then be submitted to the General Assembly for ratification by members, in accordance with constitutional regulations.
The annual general assembly is scheduled to take place in Lisbon on April 14 and will be hosted by global accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
For the record, de Medeiros has led the organisation since its inception and has served as global chief executive since 2018. This will be his third and final mandate, reaching the statutory limit of three terms permitted under the SIGA constitution.
SIGA is a global multi-stakeholder coalition of like-minded organisations that bring together all sides of the sports industry to push for sport integrity to prevent incidents of corruption. The heart of SIGA’s reform agenda is out in a set of Universal Standards on Sport Integrity. It covers four key areas – good governance in sports; financial integrity and transparency; sports betting integrity; and youth development and protection.
