Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 11 Recap: Who Are Yuta's Adversaries?

The ongoing fight between Reggie Star and Megumi intensifies as the third season of “Jujutsu Kaisen” reaches its halfway point. Previously, Reggie’s team of sorcerers launched an ambush on Megumi, initially driving him on the backfoot until comedian-sorcerer Fumihiko Takaba entered the scene to pull off a timely rescue and shocked everyone with his exceptional strength. After learning Yuji succeeded in convincing Higuruma into adding the point exchange rule, Megumi offered Reggie a chance to walk off from the fight, to no avail. Luring his opponent into a community gymnasium, Megumi launched his Domain Expansion Chimera Shadow Garden, much to Reggie’s surprise, who didn’t expect him to be so strong.

Spoilers Ahead

Is Megumi able to defeat Reggie?

Trapped inside Megumi’s DE, Reggie unleashes his cursed technique, Hollow Wicker Basket, essentially a simple domain of his own to counter and neutralize his opponent’s domain’s guaranteed hit. However, Megumi’s toad shikigamis still restrain him, as Reggie’s technique doesn’t neutralize the opponent’s CT entirely; though Megumi delivers a couple of strong blows before Reggie is able to free himself. Megumi uses his multiple shadow clones to overwhelm Reggie. However, after a while, Reggie is able to sense that Megumi’s domain is incomplete and is without a barrier; hence, he is dependent on his environment and accordingly unleashing his Shikigami and shadow clones. Realizing Megumi’s shadow domain is an extension of himself, Reggie conjures three cars, which start sinking into the shadows, putting immense strain on Megumi as he has to bear nearly 2.5 tons of weight to keep himself from getting pulled into his own domain. Reggie takes this chance to gloat about the amateur mistake made by the ancient sorcerer as Megumi gives a due reminder that he is still inside the shadow domain by dropping his Shikigami, Max Elephant, on him. Now both the sorcerers are at an impasse, trapped under crushing weight.

Megumi tries to drown Reggie to death but ends up freeing him in the process, and this time Reggie drops a freaking two-story house on him by conjuring one using his receipts. Even with his enhanced cursed energy output and efficiency inside the domain, there is no way for Megumi to bear so much weight. However, Megumi still has some tricks up his sleeve, as he dispels his domain, latches onto Reggie, and tries to drown him once again, forcing him to cancel his constructs. Megumi has spent much of his cursed energy and needs time before he can summon a Shikigami, whereas Reggie’s receipts are wet, and he can’t use them to conjure constructs for a while. It all comes down to freehand combat. Reggie knows Megumi will summon Divine Dog to take him down once and for all and remains alert to use a counter the moment Megumi brings it. However, Megumi still manages to blindside him as before; Reggie can react, and Divine Dog delivers a fatal bite in the midst of their fistfight. Megumi wins not merely by his strength and skillset but by using his wit as he had Reggie convinced that Divine Dog was in no condition to be used after their first interaction.

As Reggie, lying in a pool of blood, counts his final moments, Megumi asks him whether he was acquainted with Tengen. Reggie’s status as an ancient sorcerer is confirmed as he remembers Tengen as a shut-in sorcerer, and Megumi wonders whether there is a connection between Tengen and Reggie having different opinions about the endgame of Kenjaku’s Culling Game. Before breathing his last, Reggie asks Kogane to give away all his points to Megumi, just because he believes this will make the Culling Game all the more interesting. For ancient sorcerers like Reggie, strength and pride matter a lot, and by defeating him in a battle, Megumi has earned his respect—which is possibly the reason behind the point transfer. Megumi receives additional five points as Reggie dies, and the moment is tinged with a mildly tragic undertone.

Takaba’s Unreal Potential

The narrative shifts the focus on Takaba’s fight with Hazenoki, as Takaba is seen basically toying with his opponent in the most ludicrous way. A frustrated Hazenoki believes he has killed Takaba at least five times already, but Takaba returns with a goofy smile and unbelievable confidence to prove him wrong each time, making it seem he is invincible to any form of attack. Hazenoki is surprised, as Takaba is not using any domain or reversed cursed technique to heal himself. In the meantime, Kogane reveals to Hazenoki that Reggie has died in the battle, making him disinterested in continuing his battle with Takaba any longer. The voice of the omniscient narrator reveals Takaba’s cursed technique, Comedian, manifests whatever he deems as funny into reality, and this immense reality-warping ability grants him invulnerability of such a level that even Satoru Gojo’s Limitless can’t match up. Who would have thought that a failed comedian like him would get such incredible power, and the fact that he doesn’t even know his true potential makes this even more fascinating. Takaba is essentially the Joker card for the Jujutsu High sorcerers, and viewers will like to see him face some of the strongest in the game, like Kenjaku or Sukuna, in the near future.

Who Are Yuta’s Adversaries?

Despite being able to corner Remi, Megumi decides to spare her life and later collapses on the ground as his injuries sustained during his battle with Reggie get to him. Angel, the mysterious sorcerer whom Yuji and Megumi needed to find to break Gojo out of the Prison Realm, approaches him. The episode introduces Dhruv Lakdawalla, the second incarnation of an ancient sorcerer who established his dominance by singlehandedly turning the tides in the civil war of Wa. Viewers also meet Ryu Ishigori, a modern sorcerer with the highest CE output, and Takako Uro, an ancient sorcerer with sky manipulation powers. A cockroach-cursed spirit, that too of special grade, Kurourushi, is also revealed to have been freed by Kenjaku, and this quartet will face Yuta in his upcoming fights in the Culling Game. Yuta is revealed to have already vanquished Dhruv in a battle (that happened off the screen) as he proceeds to take on his next adversary to climb through the leaderboard by continuing his winning streak. Yuta’s battle with Kurourushi the cockroach in the upcoming episode will be exciting to see and will undoubtedly carry a certain comedic flair.
