What Happens In Episodes 7 And 8?

Woo-seok and Kwang-ji have survived the violent car crash against a mysterious black sedan. When Woo-seok regains consciousness, he finds himself in the hospital and Kwang-ji lying unconscious in the ICU. In the meantime, Han Seol-ah hands over her dashcam footage to Kong Ju Yeong. However, Ju Yeong still believes that Seol-ah was involved in the car crash, but Woo-seok refuses to buy it. While talking at the hospital, Woo-seok tells Ju Yeong about the findings regarding Paek Jun-beom’s behavior, and together, they start an investigation to find the black sedan’s owner. When they find the car, Woo-seok finds a parking ticket in the backseat, and the parking area belongs to Jun-beom’s office building.

Meanwhile, Seol-ah unearths documents about a fire breaking out in a truck containing valuable artwork of the Taemhyung Group. Seol-ah remembers how eager Chairwoman Kim was regarding Taemhyung Group winning the auction bid and smells something fishy there. However, her suspicion is interrupted by Jun-beom sending her the exact flowers Su-ho used to give her and also a phone containing Su-ho’s video. Since it is her birthday, Woo-seok visits her with flowers, and together, they talk about their past trauma. From what Seol-ah says about Kim, Woo-seok also finds a similarity to the fire incident that took his sister away. Soon, when Woo-seok and Seol-ah engage in a romantic moment, SIU investigator Young Soo informs Woo-seok about Kwang-ji’s recovery. At the hospital, Kwang-ji is attacked by an assassin but Young Soo and Woo-seok save him, just in time. From Kwang-ji, they get to know Jun-beom’s relation with Su-ho and the mysterious change in Jun-beom after he came back from Syria. Seol-ah and Woo-seok sense something wrong with Jun-beom, and they start investigating him.

Is the chairwoman responsible for killing Seol-ah’s parents?

Seol-ah was the one who initiated the fire that engulfed her parents, upon following her mother’s orders. Seol-ah’s parents were knee-deep in debt, but, behind their debt, Chairwoman Kim played a major role. From the very moment Kim sat on the chair at the Royal Auction Gallery, she started cutting corners to keep her position. Kim used to forge fakes from original artworks with the help of junior or needy artists, without ever crediting them. She used to auction those fake artworks to let buyers purchase them at the rate of originals, and later, she and the buyers destroyed those fake artworks to wrongfully claim insurance.

Seol-ah’s dad was a struggling artist, and Kim used her dad to forge famous artworks. When he resisted after knowing her true intentions, Kim’s goons came to his house and broke his right hand. Without his artistic hand, Seol-ah’s dad’s career as an artist was over. Little Seol-ah watched this torture from a corner, but she was terrified to speak. Since that day, Seol-ah’s parents started to drown in debt, and a time came when they chose death over daily abuse from the loan sharks. Even after many years, Kim did not change her ways, even for a moment. The artworks got burnt after a truck mysteriously crashed against the container against a wall. This is exactly how years ago, Woo-seok lost his sister Woo-joo in a fire that happened because of a violent car crash. Seol-ah has kept a close watch on Kim, and soon she notices an employee named Ju Hyun-su walking into her office. This is the same man who once served years in jail for murdering Woo-joo. Seol-ah even recovers documents from Chairwoman Kim that hint towards a secret vault where Kim keeps all the original artworks. But Seol-ah soon understands that something way bigger is at play when she receives the flowers from Jun-beom.

Why do Woo-seok and Seol-ah suspect Jun-beom?

Jun-beom had been at the center of everything from the very beginning. Despite being a busy CEO, Jun-beom could be there at Felix Storage right when Woo-seok saved Seol-ah from a falling box. In fact, Jun-beom was in Syria with Su-ho, and when Woo-seok approached Kwang-ji, the only man who gave him information on Jun-beom, both of them got attacked. Even before the car crash, Woo-seok had spotted a man with a black cap following them around almost everywhere. That man, who is later revealed as Sung-hae, was the assassin who tried to silence Kwang-ji forever. However, he failed. Seol-ah’s and Woo-seok’s suspicion of Jun-beom grew after it was discovered that Sung-hae’s car was parked in the basement of his office. Seol-ah had a stronger suspicion since the box Jun-beom sent had Su-ho’s phone in it. This was lost all these days, and it contained one video where Su-ho blamed his breakup with Seol-ah for his suicidal thoughts. Soon, Woo-seok sends Seol-ah to Jun-beom’s office by hiding a spy cam in her bag. As Seol-ah waits for Jun-beom in his office, Woo-seok’s trusted hacker shows him that Jun-beom’s company is deleting security footage in real time. Jun-beom tries his best to delete everything, but the hacker still gets a hold of a picture where Jun-beom is in the backseat of Sung-hae’s black sedan.

Meanwhile, Seol-ah notices Jun-beom is behaving strangely. When she confronts Jun-beom about pulling the strings from behind the curtain, as if he is taking revenge for his friend Su-ho’s death, Jun-beom leans in closer and directly challenges Seol-ah to uncover his true intentions. Luckily, Woo-seok, who has been watching the spy cam live feed, pulls a fire alarm by sneaking past the security. Later, during the auction, while everyone admires Stiller’s Piece, Jun-beom stares at the painting titled “Orphan From Syria” artwork. As the auction starts, Jun-beom falls into an anaphylactic shock after sipping on the champagne. Seol-ah saves him with an EpiPen, which Woo-seok grabs later to get a hold of Jun-beom’s DNA and test it.

Are Jun-beom and Su-ho the same person?

Way before Woo-seok and Seol-ah planned to extract DNA, Kwang-ji revealed a lot about Jun-beom. Su-ho and Jun-beom were very close friends, like brothers. After Su-ho died in the bombing, Jun-beom was also wounded. However, Jun-beom became a completely different person after coming back from Syria. Woo-seok also came to know from one of Jun-beom’s employees that the company faced extreme difficulty when Jun-beom came back. The iris scanners could not identify Jun-beom, and he ordered employees to replace all the equipment with new ones. This struck a major chord in Woo-seok and ultimately led to him taking Jun-beom’s DNA.

With Kwang-ji’s help, Woo-seok compares Jun-beom’s DNA with that of Su-ho’s stored DNA. And Woo-seok’s suspicion came true as the DNA match, proving Jun-beom is indeed Su-ho. The man who died in the terrorist bombings in Syria was the original Paek Jun-beom. Since they were friends, Jun-beom and Su-ho often exchanged jackets during their mission in Korea. When the bombs fell, Jun-beom died, but Su-ho survived. The soldiers and doctors saw Su-ho’s disfigured face and reconstructed it according to Jun-beom after looking at his name on the jacket. However, by the time Woo-seok has discovered this shocking truth, Seol-ah is already inside Jun-beom’s office. He has promised to tell her a secret, something that he has been wanting to tell her for a very long time. Jun-beom has taken Seol-ah to a distant house in the wild, eerily similar to what Su-ho has always promised her. Seol-ah gets so emotional that she rejects Woo-seok’s call and turns off her phone. This forces Woo-seok to sneak into Jun-beom, i.e., Su-ho’s luxury villa only to find out that Su-ho has been tracking every move of Seol-ah since the very beginning. Although Kong Ju Yeong and the police chief arrive due to the alarm, they let Woo-seok go and send units to track Jun-beom.

Does Seol-ah kill Su-ho?

When Seol-ah enters the courtyard of the house, she finds herself very uncomfortable, especially given everything resembling Su-ho’s ideas. It does not take her long enough to realize that Jun-beom is indeed Su-ho. She confronts Jun-beom about being Su-ho, and he admits right away. Su-ho then starts abusing Seol-ah, blaming her for all his wrongdoings, before trying to physically assault her. Seol-ah picks up a firewood rod and tries to defend herself against Su-ho, and then the power goes out. The last scene shows Seol-ah standing with bloody hands while Su-ho lies there dead, with the rod in his chest. But did Seol-ah actually kill him?

Su-ho had always been a problem in Seol-ah’s life. He always wanted attention and thought that Seol-ah was ignoring him on purpose when she was just trying to focus on her new job at the Royal Auction Gallery. Su-ho was very suspicious of Seol-ah and kept questioning her every move. When this went on for months, Seol-ah revolted and stopped giving him attention. After Su-ho went to Syria, he recorded a video of himself specifically blaming Seol-ah for every bad thing. He was so manipulative that Su-ho wanted to guilt trip Seol-ah for breaking up with him. Naturally, Seol-ah, like any other human being, could not put up with this level of torment. When Su-ho repeatedly threatened Seol-ah with killing himself, Seol-ah only gave a nod to his wish. Su-ho always wanted to be with Seol-ah. He used to think Seol-ah was having an illicit relationship but did not understand the flaws in his own character. That’s why, even after taking Jun-beom’s face, he targeted Seol-ah, thinking that she was always after wealth. Remember how Su-ho wanted to strike a conversation with Seol-ah on the first auction, the same night when Kim Yun-ji died? That showed how desperate he was to get to Seol-ah at any cost. When he saw Seol-ah found happiness with Woo-seok, Su-ho could not take it. He wanted Seol-ah to suffer, and that’s why he anonymously sent her the flowers and the phone, to traumatize her.

“Siren’s Kiss” did not show what happened after the lights went out, but considering the strength Su-ho had and how well-built he was, it is safe to assume that Seol-ah could not have committed this crime. It was probably Su-ho who killed himself just to blame Seol-ah (like always) and label her as a criminal in the public eye. Although Su-ho was once Seol-ah’s boyfriend, in reality, he never wished Seol-ah to be truly happy in life.
