KUCHING, Mar 30: Dion Das Louis, affectionately known as ‘Little Bornean Birdie’, is qualified to represent Malaysia at the Dance World Cup (DWC) World Finals 2026 in Dublin, Ireland, this coming July.

According to a media release, this followed his victory at the DWC Malaysia Qualifier 2026 held in Sabah from March 28-29, where he won two silver medals.

Dion, who was the only Sarawakian contestant, competed in the Mini Solo National Folklore and Senior Duo Folklore categories.

His solo performance was inspired by the legend of Bujang Berani and the spirit of ‘Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban’, while for the duo category, he teamed up with Sabahan dancer Mohamad Haykal for the ‘Kanjet Lian Sura’, inspired by a myth from the Orang Ulu community.

In addition, Dion, who used to be seen clad in wings, also showed a new look which was inspired by warriors.

His choreography and costume were created by Brandon Balasius, a renowned choreographer in Sabah. — DayakDaily
