MCMC Recognised At Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2026

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been recognised in the Analytics – Telecommunications category at the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for its development of MCMC NEXUS, a national network intelligence platform that enhances the way connectivity performance is monitored and managed across Malaysia.

The recognition reflects MCMC’s advancement in leveraging data-driven approaches to strengthen regulatory oversight and improve the overall quality of telecommunications services nationwide.

MCMC NEXUS enables real-time monitoring of network performance by transforming crowdsourced mobile measurements into actionable insights. This allows more precise identification of connectivity gaps, supports faster and more targeted intervention, and contributes to continuous improvement in service quality for Malaysians.

A key feature of the platform is its Auto Alert capability, aligned with Malaysia’s Mandatory Standards for Quality of Service (MSQoS), which enables early detection of potential service degradation and facilitates timely engagement with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).

Built on strict privacy-by-design principles, MCMC NEXUS does not collect personally identifiable information, ensuring that all data remains anonymised while supporting meaningful nationwide analysis.

The Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) has confirmed that the app does not collect personal information. It only uses anonymous network performance data and follows Malaysia’s data protection law.

In the same event, MCMC’s Human Capital Division was also recognised in the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality – Government Organisation category for MetaHRise, an immersive learning initiative designed to enhance capability development through experiential learning. The initiative reflects MCMC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen internal talent development by leveraging emerging technologies to create engaging and effective learning experiences.

This recognition underscores MCMC’s capability to develop high-impact, homegrown regulatory technology, while reinforcing its commitment to innovation, internal capability development, and data-driven regulation in advancing Malaysia’s digital ecosystem.
