Marshall has introduced a new speaker called the Bromley 450, and it sits in an in-between space the brand hasn’t really focused on before. It’s not one of its smaller, easy-to-carry models, and it’s not quite a fixed home speaker either. Based on the specs, this one is built to cover more space, run longer, and handle more than just music playback.
If you’re familiar with the brand, this doesn’t sit in the same category as something like the Marshall Middleton or Marshall Emberton. It’s closer in intent to larger models like the Marshall Woburn, just built to move around.
Sound setupThe speaker uses multiple drivers placed around the cabinet to project sound in all directions. In practice, that means you do not need to position it carefully. It is designed to sit in the middle of a space and distribute sound evenly, rather than pushing everything forward from a single point. That’s the idea behind its 360-degree output.
The configuration includes dual woofers, multiple full-range drivers and passive radiators, powered by several Class D amplifiers. The system is tuned to prioritise low-end presence without losing clarity in vocals and higher frequencies. The maximum output reaches around 100 dB at one metre, which places it firmly in the “fill the space” category rather than background listening.
If you’ve used something like the Middleton, expect a wider and fuller sound here. Not necessarily more detailed, but built to travel further.
Battery and chargingBattery life is one of the bigger selling points. Marshall claims more than 40 hours on a full charge. That’s well beyond what most portable speakers offer. A quick 20 minute charge gives around 6 hours of playback, while a full recharge takes about 3.5 hours.
It also supports a replaceable battery, similar to its larger sibling.
Inputs and connectivityCompared to Marshall’s usual speakers, this one gives you more ways to use it. Bluetooth 5.3 handles wireless playback, and there’s support for multipoint connections. On the wired side, you get AUX, RCA and USB-C. More interesting are the two combo inputs for microphones or instruments. That opens the door for simple karaoke setups or small live sessions without extra gear.
Controls are physical, so you adjust volume, bass and treble directly on the speaker. There’s no need to reach for your phone every time you want to tweak the sound.
Those mic and instrument inputs are the main difference. Most Marshall speakers don’t offer that. With the Bromley 450, you can plug in a microphone or guitar and use it without extra gear.
There’s also a lighting element built into the front. It reacts to music and comes with a few preset modes. It won’t replace proper lighting, but it adds some atmosphere without extra setup.
Build and SizeIt keeps the usual Marshall look. Metal grille, leather-like finish, physical knobs. It also carries an IP55 rating, so dust and light splashes shouldn’t be an issue.
But size-wise, it’s a different category. The Bromley 450 weighs 12.2kg and is nearly 50cm tall. Yes, there’s a handle. No, you won’t want to carry it far unless you have to.
Pricing and AvailabilityThe Bromley 450 is priced at RM3,699 in Malaysia and is available through selected retailers.
