'Bloodhounds' Season 3 Theories: Tae-Geom’s Brother’s Potential Revenge Plot

Before we get into my actual theories for what we could expect from Bloodhounds season 3, right off the bat, I’m going to tell you there is currently no official report that a new season for the highly successful show is coming our way. However, based on how popular it’s been so far, it’s not unbelievable we’d see more of Gun-Woo and Woo-Jin’s bromance. Season 2 followed an entirely different villain from season 1, because when the first season ended, it did feel sort of final, but currently, the show is doing really well, and we can expect that it might come back with a new conflict altogether. So far, Bloodhounds has seen Woo-Jin and Gun-Woo fight loansharks as well as a fellow boxer who turned to the dark side, but this time around, there’s a chance we’ll see a drug trade plotline revolving around the NIS. Season 2 ended with a shocking new twist of Baek-Jeong getting arrested instead of being murdered, and Park Seo-Jun showing up as a new character. With such a big cameo, we can imagine the makers would like to bring him back for another season as a main character.

Spoiler Alert

Potential New Drug Syndicate

Season 2 ended with the shocking twist that NIS agent Sin-Hyeong was going to use Baek-Jeong in his investigation into a massive meth import into Korea from Thailand. We even get a name drop of the Thai guy, Paichit Chaichana. What we can understand is that Baek-Jeong is going to be used as an undercover operative, but he’ll be hard to handle as an asset, so there’s a high chance that he will escape using whatever undercover role he’s been given in the investigation. Sin-Hyeong is a completely blank slate character as of now, and we know nothing about him except that he works for NIS and that he likes to make up codenames. There is a somewhat comedic touch to the character, but of course, he’s very serious about what he’s doing, so there’s a high chance that if we get a season 3, he will be a bit part of it. Drug syndicates always have a few bruisers hanging around, so there’ll be ample opportunity for our boys to show off their skills again, if they happen to somehow get involved. Generally, when it is a drug syndicate that K-dramas are exploring, the stories tend to tread the same paths, but considering how Bloodhounds is so action forward, I’m hoping it would be different from what we’ve seen so far.

Woo-Jin And Gun-Woo’s Next Step

We didn’t see much of a character arc for Gun-Woo or Woo-Jin this season, but even if the show is so focused on boxing, I’m hoping that if we get a third season, this’ll be slightly different, especially since the fatherless, emotional, strong personality situation vibe has gone on for too long. I will say that the lack of female characters in the show is certainly a choice, and it almost feels like a little boy’s fantasy sometimes. You know, two bros hanging out, beating up the bad guys, and also there’s no girls allowed, except for your mum, that is. I know it’s not that kind of show, but if we want to expand the universe further, we can expect that season 3 would incorporate romance of some sort. Considering this is a show about male ego, they will likely be docile damsels in distress. It would be interesting to see major female actresses play more than just love interests and actually be part of the actual story rather than being mere add-ons. But I think that’s wishful thinking.

The Return Of Baek-Jeong

Baek-Jeong has now been broken out of police captivity and basically press-ganged into doing undercover work for Sin-Hyeong with the NIS. A brutal guy like Baek-Jeong’s got a lot of potential uses for NIS; he could threaten goons, he could be a liaison between the NIS and international drug rings, he could even do proper dirty jobs for them completely off the books. Shady assassinations or regime change operations aren’t out of the wheelhouse of intelligence agencies like NIS after all. Not that Baek-Jeong’s subtle enough to send over the border into North Korea, though that’d certainly make for a typical K-drama plotline. But at the end of the day, Baek-Jeong’s got a poisoned heart, and it’s only a matter of time before he starts scheming behind Sin-Hyeong’s back. Plus, with how eager he’ll be for revenge now, giving Baek-Jeong any amount of free reign is going to end with him zeroing in on Gun-Woo and Woo-Jin like a shark who’s smelled blood in water.

Tae-Geom’s Brother’s Potential Revenge Plot

During the end-credits scene of season 2, there’s a man who comes straight from the military to the morgue and looks at Tae-Geom’s body. If there was no potential for another season of the show coming out, they would not have given us this tease. So, it’s also the makers of the show giving us a hint that they want to continue this saga. This person is most likely Tae-Geom’s brother, and potentially wants revenge of some kind. This revenge could either be against Baek-Jeong, because he is the reason Tae-Geom found himself in a difficult position, or it could also be against Gun-Woo and Woo-Jin, because they’re the reason Tae-Geom was willing to go out of his way to risk his life.

Revenge plots are a huge part of the show so far, so I suspect they will make a return with another character yet again. Did you enjoy Bloodhounds season 2, are you looking forward to season 3? What do you think we could see in a potential sequel season? Let me know in the comments down below.
