ASAJAYA (April 8): Flying Doctor Services (FDS) and mobile clinic services in Sarawak will continue to be strengthened to ensure residents in remote areas have access to quality healthcare.
Sarawak Health Director Dr Veronica Lugah said 97 localities currently require FDS coverage, involving interior areas in Kapit, Miri and Limbang, many of which remain difficult to access and far from proper road networks.
She said visits to these areas are conducted once a month, while some locations are served every other month, depending on operational capacity.
“Despite logistical challenges, the services have not been disrupted and will continue as they are essential for residents in remote areas,” she said after the officiating of the opening of a new block at the Semera Health Clinic here today.
The new block was officiated by Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.
Dr Veronica said FDS operations involve a comprehensive healthcare team comprising doctors, nurses and assistant medical officers to ensure holistic treatment. – Bernama
