Roku is in 'more than half' of US homes, crosses 100 million milestone

Roku has hit a major milestone, with its platform now being used in 100 million households around the globe.
In a post, Roku says that it has “surpassed 100 million streaming households worldwide,” which includes homes that are using a Roku streaming device, TV with Roku built-in, as well as Roku’s own first-party TV sets. The measurement was made using the “number of distinct user accounts streaming on the Roku platform in a given 30-day periodnumber of distinct user accounts streaming on the Roku platform in a given 30-day period.”
On top of this, Roku says that its platform is “used by more than half of all U.S. broadband households.”
This measurement is effectively a user count, with Google TV not having shared a comparable number. In Google’s last update, shared in late 2024, the platform was said to have more than 270 million active devices, but a single Roku account could include more than a single device. A recent report suggested that number is likely over 300 million at this point, but also brought out that Google TV may have a monetization problem behind the scenes. Another report suggested that Google TV’s market share will somewhat falter, with a big drop in North America.
