Flash floods hit parts of Shah Alam after heavy rain

SHAH ALAM – Several roads around Section 13, here, were inundated following a flash flood triggered by heavy rain on Monday, raising safety concerns among motorists.

Videos circulating on social media showed key routes submerged, disrupting traffic and causing congestion.

Water levels rose rapidly after more than an hour of continuous rainfall.

Affected areas included roads near commercial zones and main access routes leading to the Shah Alam city centre.

The situation forced vehicles to slow, with some motorists pulling over to avoid engine damage. Footage also showed vehicles attempting to drive through floodwaters nearing tyre level.

Authorities have yet to confirm the full extent of the incident. Efforts are underway to obtain verification from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and avoid flooded routes where possible.
