KUCHING, April 26: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch has stepped in to assist a bedridden elderly, Ngu Neng Kwong, by delivering a medical bed to improve his comfort and ease the burden on his caregivers.
The contribution was handed over at the elderly’s house in Jalan Hock Ming, Sungai Bidut in Sibu during a visit led by branch chairman Cr Kevin Lau Kor Jie, together with Kapitan Tang Chuo Ging and team members.
According to Lau, the initiative was aimed at providing much-needed support not only to the patient, who is suffering from a lung-related illness, but also to his family members caring for him.
He noted that the patient’s prolonged immobility had resulted in considerable discomfort, while also placing significant physical and emotional strain on his caregivers.
“We understand the difficulties the family is going through, and we hope this contribution can offer some relief and support during this challenging time,” he said in a statement.
Lau expressed hope that the medical bed would help improve the patient’s quality of life while making daily care more manageable for the family.
He also conveyed his appreciation to Kapitan Tang for highlighting the case, as well as to the sponsor whose generosity made the contribution possible.
Lau added that such collaborative efforts reflect the importance of community spirit in ensuring assistance reaches those in need.
During the visit, the team also extended their well wishes to the elderly man, hoping for his strength and steady recovery. — DayakDaily
