In a Facebook post, the traveller said he and his family had left home four hours early, taking the MRT and airport train to reach the airport.
Faced long queues at departure immigrationHowever, he noted that traffic conditions in Kuala Lumpur can be unpredictable, making it difficult to gauge whether one might arrive late or too early.
Upon arriving at the airport, he was met with long queues at the departure immigration checkpoint.
With only about an hour left before boarding gate closure, he approached ground staff to ask if his family could use the emergency immigration counter.
His request was denied.
Confused over others using emergency laneWhat surprised him, however, was that shortly after being turned away, he allegedly saw another family being allowed to pass through the emergency immigration lane without issues.
After finally clearing immigration, the traveller claimed he saw two staff members chatting across their counters instead of attending to passengers.
Frustrated, he said the incident left a negative impression, especially as the airport serves as a “postcard” for foreigners visiting Malaysia.
Rushed to gate, made it just in timeWith time running out, the traveller said he had to carry his child and rush towards the boarding gate, even taking a shuttle along the way.
He and his family eventually made it to the gate just five minutes before it closed. He noted that the staff at the gate assisted them quickly, allowing them to board successfully.
Following the experience, he advised travellers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure when travelling through Malaysia to avoid similar situations.
