Young chess enthusiasts from international and private schools across Malaysia are invited to take part in TEG ChessMasters 2026, a free competition designed to promote strategic thinking, focus, and sportsmanship through the game of chess.

Young chess enthusiasts from international and private schools across Malaysia are invited to participate in the highly anticipated TEG ChessMasters 2026, organised by TEG Media in collaboration with Mega Chess Academy and Persatuan Pendidikan Catur Malaysia, and hosted by Cheltenham International School.

Taking place on June 13, 2026 (Saturday) at Cheltenham International School, the competition aims to provide students with an exciting platform to develop critical thinking, strategic skills, focus, and sportsmanship through the game of chess.

Open to students across several age groups, the competition categories include:

One of the most exciting highlights of TEG ChessMasters 2026 is that participation is completely free, making the event accessible to more young talents who are passionate about chess and eager to challenge themselves in a competitive environment.

The tournament will follow a 10 minutes + 5 seconds time-control format, creating a fun yet challenging experience for both beginner and experienced players. Beyond the competition itself, students will also have the opportunity to meet fellow chess enthusiasts from different schools, gain valuable tournament experience, and build confidence through healthy competition.

Adding to the excitement, selected winners and outstanding participants may also receive the opportunity to be featured in The Expat magazine and the Expat Education Guide, giving students well-deserved recognition for their achievements and talents.

TEG ChessMasters 2026 has also received support from the Ministry of Education Malaysia, with recognition as a national-level programme for co-curricular marks (PAJSK) to be considered based on the programme report submitted by the organizer.

Parents, schools, chess academies, and students are encouraged to register early and be part of this exciting educational and competitive event celebrating youth talent, learning, and sportsmanship through chess.
